Aston Martin Vantage Elevates Formula 1 As The Fastest Ever Official FIA Safety Car
Aston Martin is set to redefine the role of the Official FIA Safety Car of Formula 1 in 2024, with its unveiling of the latest Vantage model, a car that encapsulates the brand's dedication to performance and driver focus. This announcement comes three weeks after the reveal of the Vantage alongside its siblings, the Vantage GT3 racer and AMR24 F1 challenger, underscoring Aston Martin's significant period in its 111-year history.
The Vantage, a symbol of Aston Martin's engineering excellence, will lead the formation lap at the FORMULA 1 STC SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX 2024 before positioning itself at the pit lane exit, ready to control the race's pace whenever required. Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer at Aston Martin, expressed immense pride in the Vantage's role in F1, highlighting the synergy between the sport and the Aston Martin brand. The car, powered by a hand-built 4.0 Twin-Turbo V8 engine, boasts a 30% power increase over its predecessor, making it the fastest Vantage ever without needing any modification for its safety role.

FIA Safety Car Driver, Bernd Mayländer, praised the new Vantage for its improved handling and power. The rigorous process to adapt the Vantage into an FIA Safety Car involved modifications for enhanced aerodynamics, including a new rear wing and a specifically profiled front splitter for added downforce. The car's interior has been equally optimised for its role, with Pole Position Seats and a bespoke centre console fitted with essential FIA systems and a live lap time display. Despite its functional modifications, the car remains distinctively an Aston Martin, featuring a unique Lime Essence trim in homage to the brand's racing colours.
Roberto Fedeli, Group Chief Technology Officer at Aston Martin, emphasised that transforming the Vantage into an Official FIA Safety Car primarily involved integrating FIA equipment and aerodynamic enhancements to showcase the car's capabilities. The Vantage Safety Car, along with the DBX707 Medical Car, will debut in their iconic Aston Martin Racing Green liveries at the upcoming Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, aligning with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team's colours.

The introduction of the new Vantage as the FIA Safety Car not only highlights Aston Martin's commitment to innovation but also promises an exhilarating experience for Formula 1 fans, demonstrating the pinnacle of motorsport safety in a manner that's as thrilling as the race itself.
