Archer Aviation Partners With Anduril Industries To Accelerate Omen Air Vehicle Production In UAE
Archer Aviation Inc. has entered into a significant agreement with Anduril Industries and EDGE Group to provide its dual-use electric powertrain technology. This collaboration aims to accelerate the development and production of Anduril's Omen Autonomous Air Vehicle system. The UAE has already committed to acquiring 50 Omen systems, establishing a demand for Archer's technology
This agreement marks the first instance where Archer will share its proprietary powertrain technology, previously exclusive to its Midnight eVTOL aircraft, with another company.

This move introduces a new revenue stream for Archer while showcasing the value of its core technology. The decision to vertically integrate design and manufacturing processes ensures that their battery pack meets aviation standards for safety and reliability.
The Omen, an autonomous air vehicle developed by Anduril and EDGE Group in the UAE, will be the first third-party product to incorporate Archer's powertrain technology. Archer manufactures its electric powertrains across nearly 1,000,000 square feet of facilities in the US, employing automation in key manufacturing areas to ensure scalability and reliability.
Adam Goldstein, founder and CEO of Archer, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership with Anduril. "While most see our Midnight eVTOL as an aircraft, we view Midnight as a platform that plays host to a wide range of new and exciting aerospace technologies that will be leveraged way beyond our own aircraft," he stated. He highlighted that this deal is expected to be the first of many collaborations leveraging their technology.
Shane Arnott, SVP of Engineering at Anduril, commented on the collaboration: "We've been working on Omen for more than five years. By combining the Archer team's expertise in powertrain technology with a little bit of Anduril magic, we've been able to mature our propulsion solution." He noted that Archer's reliable powertrain platform reduces risks associated with delivering Omen at scale.
Archer has also been active internationally with deals related to its Midnight eVTOL. An exclusive agreement was announced with Korean Air to commercialize AAM technology across various markets. In Japan, cities like Osaka and Tokyo have chosen Archer and its local partner for leading AAM deployments.
The Midnight aircraft is designed for piloted flights carrying four passengers on rapid trips with minimal charge time between flights. It offers a sustainable alternative to lengthy car commutes by providing quick electric air taxi services that are safe, low-noise, and cost-competitive with ground transportation.
Archer's investment in developing a top-tier electric powertrain optimized for commercial and defense aviation use-cases is significant. This expansion into supplying electric powertrains for defense applications builds on their expertise in battery and engine technologies while opening new revenue opportunities.
