New Paid Parking In Abu Dhabi: People Of Determination To Get Additional Parking Spaces In These Areas
Starting Monday, July 29, 2024, the Mawaqif System will be implemented in Khalifa Commercial and Etihad Plaza areas within sectors SW2, SE45, and SE48. This expansion is part of Abu Dhabi Mobility's initiative to extend the system beyond Abu Dhabi Island.
Sector SE48 is located at Etihad Airways' headquarters on Al Mireef Street. It offers 694 parking spaces, including three designated for people of determination. Sector SE45 is situated at Etihad Plaza between Al Mireef Street and Al Ibtisamah Street. This sector contains 1,283 parking spaces, with 17 reserved for people of determination.

Sector SW2 lies between Al Marmouq Street to the west and Al Qalayid Street to the east. It is bounded by Theyab Bin Eissa Street to the north and Al Murahibeen Street to the south. This sector includes 523 parking spaces, with 17 designated for people of determination.
The announcement follows the completion of infrastructure work in these areas. The work involved painting sidewalks and installing signage as part of Abu Dhabi's transport development strategy. These measures aim to regulate public parking use and improve traffic flow.
The plan also includes finalising the organisation and management of parking spaces. Long-term solutions are being implemented to achieve optimal use of public parking, reduce illegal parking, enhance city safety and security, and maintain the streets' visual appeal.
To educate the public about the new system, Abu Dhabi Mobility has been distributing informative brochures through a field team operating in the area. This initiative aims to raise awareness among business owners and visitors in Khalifa Commercial and Etihad Plaza areas about the Mawaqif service.
The brochures explain usage procedures and highlight the positive effects on traffic flow as well as service, community, economic, and environmental aspects. The goal is to ensure that everyone understands how to use the system correctly.
Abu Dhabi Mobility reminds the public to follow regulations for organising and managing public parking at all times. Vehicles should be parked correctly in allocated spaces, avoiding prohibited areas to maintain smooth traffic flow and community safety.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve traffic conditions in Abu Dhabi by ensuring that vehicles do not obstruct traffic or park illegally. Compliance with these regulations will help achieve these goals effectively.
The implementation of the Mawaqif System in these new sectors marks a significant step towards better traffic management in Abu Dhabi. By extending this system beyond Abu Dhabi Island, authorities aim to enhance overall city safety and security while maintaining an orderly appearance on the streets.
