Where The World Is Heading This Summer: Emirates Reveals 2025’s Top Travel Trends and Dream Destinations
As summer travel reaches full throttle in 2025, wanderlust is rewriting the map. Emirates' latest insights into global booking and search data show a vibrant shift in traveller behaviour, from the usual tourist traps to immersive, off-the-grid adventures.
With a 7% year-on-year surge in summer flight searches, it's clear that the appetite for culturally rich and lesser-explored destinations is stronger than ever.
Vietnam, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka Steal the Spotlight
Leading the summer surge is Vietnam, this year's unexpected star, boasting a 61% spike in interest. Emirates now connects travellers to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and newly added Da Nang via Bangkok, making the country's diverse landscapes and culinary marvels more accessible than ever. Da Nang in particular is a launchpad to three UNESCO World Heritage sites and a seemingly endless coastline that's drawing adventurous travellers.
Mauritius, with its turquoise waters and luxury escapes, is second on the list, seeing a 41% increase in flight searches. Emirates' two daily A380 services have made this island gem even more appealing for travellers seeking paradise with convenience.

Sri Lanka follows closely behind, up 32%, as a favourite for those chasing affordable luxury, beach bliss, and the tranquility of its lush tea country. Whether exploring colonial forts or spiritual temples, the island offers a rich mix of relaxation and exploration.
Japan remains a timeless magnet for explorers, with a 28% rise in interest. From the quiet zen of Kyoto's gardens to the buzzing metropolises of Tokyo and Osaka, travellers are drawn to the country's artful blend of tradition and tech. Emirates serves Japan with 21 weekly flights, catering to growing demand.
Rounding out the top five, France proves that classic never goes out of style. With a 25% jump in demand, the country remains a summer favourite. Emirates is responding to this with a robust schedule: three daily A380s to Paris, a daily A380 to Nice, and a new A350 service to Lyon.
Who's Flying Where, And Why
In the UAE alone, flight searches have grown 13%, with strong interest in destinations like Sri Lanka, France, India, Morocco, Jordan, and Lebanon. Emirates also notes a growing interest among US travellers in African destinations such as Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa, while UK-based travellers are increasingly looking east, with a 12% bump in searches for New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius.
Indian travellers are setting their sights on Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, while Aussies are crafting the ultimate Euro-summer, focusing on France and the UK. German travellers are heading east with growing interest in Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, and the Seychelles.

One noticeable trend? Extended summer getaways. Close to a third of travellers from India, Australia, the UK, and Germany are planning trips lasting over a month. Meanwhile, Americans prefer 2-3 week stays, balancing escape with their work-life rhythm.
Dubai: Still on the World's Wishlist
While travellers are busy globe-trotting, Dubai continues to attract visitors in droves. Emirates anticipates a strong inbound summer season, with Dubai's year-round appeal drawing solo travellers, families, and couples alike.
Interestingly, solo travellers represent nearly half of all visitors from the US, India, and Australia, often combining work with play in stays that average just over a week.
Family travel patterns, however, vary by nationality. Indian families lean toward shorter, efficient holidays, while American families spend 1–2 weeks exploring the city. British families take their time, often staying more than two weeks.
Couples, especially younger travellers from Germany and Australia, are also stretching their stays, sometimes up to a full month, making the most of Dubai's beaches, nightlife, and cultural events.
From bustling Asian cities to Indian Ocean escapes, 2025 is shaping up to be a season of meaningful travel. Whether you're heading east for street food and ancient temples or west for romantic chateaux and Mediterranean coastlines, the world is waiting.
