Turkish Airlines Reinstates Flights To Misrata, Enhancing Travel Connectivity To Libya
After a hiatus since January 2015, Turkish Airlines has recommenced its flight services to Misrata, marking its third Libyan destination alongside Tripoli and Benghazi. This resumption extends the airline's African network, which now encompasses 62 destinations across the continent.
The reinstatement of these flights is part of Turkish Airlines' broader strategy to bridge continents and respond to the growing travel demands fueled by Africa's economic expansion. The service to Misrata will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

To celebrate the relaunch, Turkish Airlines is offering promotional fares for passengers booking by 9 September 2025. Travelers can fly from Istanbul to Misrata starting at USD 349 and from Misrata to Istanbul beginning at $249 for trips completed by 30 November 2025. These fares, available on the airline's official website, may vary when purchased through sales offices or travel agencies.
The flights are scheduled as follows: Flight TK 1145 will depart from Istanbul (IST) at 11:30 and arrive in Misrata (MRA) at 14:25. The return flight, TK 1146, will leave Misrata at 16:25 and land in Istanbul at 19:15, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. All mentioned times are local.
Misrata, nestled on the Mediterranean coast in northwestern Libya, stands as the nation's third-largest city. It is a key industrial and commercial hub, boasting significant development. The Port of Misrata plays a crucial role in North Africa's maritime transport, further highlighting the city's strategic importance.
Mahmut Yayla, Turkish Airlines senior vice president of sales (Region II), expressed enthusiasm about reconnecting with Misrata, Libya's third-largest city, emphasising the historical connections and the airline's commitment to expanding global access to African gateways as market conditions evolve.
