Turkish Airlines Expands Global Network With Longest Flight To Sydney

The inaugural flight of Turkish Airlines touching down in Sydney has heralded a new chapter in the airline's history, establishing a direct link between Turkey and Australia. This flight, which commenced operations on November 29th, not only signifies Turkish Airlines' expansion into Australia with Sydney as its second city after Melbourne but also extends its reach to 351 destinations worldwide.

This new route between Istanbul and Sydney is facilitated by the Airbus A350-900, an aircraft celebrated for its long-haul flight capabilities. Offering a total of 329 seats, including 32 flatbeds in business class for enhanced comfort and 297 recliners in economy class, the service promises an unmatched travel experience.

Turkish Airlines Launches Longest Sydney Flight

Operating four times weekly via Kuala Lumpur, this 19-hour flight covers a distance of 9,300 miles. It not only strengthens the connection between Türkiye and Australia by promoting tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges but also integrates Australian passengers into Turkish Airlines' extensive global network, offering them unparalleled hospitality and the opportunity to explore the world.

Turkish Airlines' CEO, Bilal Ekşi, expressed, "This momentous occasion marks Turkish Airlines' longest flight path in history, as we happily add our second Australian city to our flight network. The arrival of our first flight from Istanbul to Sydney represents our ongoing commitment to connect travellers across the globe, providing a seamless gateway between Europe and Australia with the comfort and hospitality of Turkish Airlines. Once we receive our aircraft capable of conducting the journey in a single leap, we look forward to further expanding our offering in the near future with Australia's first non-stop flights to Istanbul."

The launch of this Sydney service follows the introduction of flights to Melbourne in March, marking Sydney as the flag carrier's latest addition to its expanding global network. The airline has outlined plans for the future, including the potential for direct, non-stop flights from Sydney to Istanbul. This move aims to redefine the travel experience between these two key destinations, offering travelers more efficient and comfortable options.
