RTA Completes Massive Infrastructure Enhancement: Over 10Km Of Roads and 43,000 Metres of Lighting Installed
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed extensive internal road and lighting projects across several industrial areas within Al Qusais, Dubai. This development has resulted in the implementation of 32 roads spanning a total length of 10 kilometers, alongside lighting installations stretching approximately 43,000 metres. The enhancements have significantly improved the capacity of the roads, boosting it by 200% from accommodating 500 vehicles per hour to 1500 vehicles per hour in both directions.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RTA, highlighted that this project was executed following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and the instructions of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. The initiative aims to enhance basic infrastructure in residential and industrial areas, catering to the emirate's expanding population and urban growth, thus elevating the quality of life and ensuring the happiness and well-being of the community.
The project has effectively connected the first through fifth Al Qusais Industrial Areas, interfacing with four main streets: Amman Street, Beirut Street, Aleppo Street, and Damascus Street. It has significantly improved access to over 320 workshops, 25 residential buildings, shops, and educational facilities, benefiting an estimated population density of about 60,000 people.
Additionally, the RTA has completed road and lighting projects in four residential areas: Margham, Lahbab, Al-Lisili, and Hatta, totaling 35 kilometers in length. Further road works have commenced in Lahbab and Al-Lisili to better serve the needs of the residents in these areas.
In Margham, situated on the Dubai-Al Ain Road near Skydive Dubai, 5 km of roads were laid, serving over 1,100 residents. Lahbab saw the paving of four-kilometer-long roads and lighting improvements alongside the Dubai-Hatta Road, benefiting more than 3,000 residents. These projects have enhanced connectivity and access to these developing residential areas.
The Al-Lisili area, near Last Exit and Al Qudra Lakes, experienced the implementation of seven kilometers of roads and over seven kilometers of lighting works, aiding roughly 2,900 residents. The upgrades have substantially improved the area's accessibility.
In the Hatta region, specifically the Suhaila area, two kilometers of roads were constructed in addition to infrastructure enhancements such as rainwater drainage systems and street lighting, serving about 6,000 residents. These developments have facilitated better access to and from the residential area, integrating it more seamlessly with the broader road network.
