Residence Zanzibar Unveils Exciting Enhancements For Unforgettable Spice Island Stay
The Residence Zanzibar has introduced several enhancements to elevate the guest experience at their resort on Spice Island. These improvements aim to make stays more memorable and enjoyable for visitors.
All 66 villas have been upgraded, both inside and out, ensuring a refreshed and comfortable stay. Enhancements include new air conditioning units, bathroom upgrades, and replacement of private pool decks. Guests can also enjoy a wider selection of pillow options for added comfort.

The road leading to the resort has been resurfaced, providing a smooth and serene journey for guests as they arrive or head out on excursions around the island. This improvement ensures a safe and comfortable travel experience.
A partnership with a new excursion provider offers enhanced services such as airport meet and greet, in-car Wi-Fi, upgraded vehicles, and improved transfer services. Guests can now enjoy additional meet and greet options upon arrival.
The resort has introduced new recreational equipment including jet skis, transparent kayaks, and a traditional Dhow Boat for cruises. Guests can also engage in deep-sea fishing or explore underwater through the diving centre's offerings like test dives and diving certification.
Young guests can look forward to more fun activities at the Kids' Club. New additions include a trampoline, seesaw, snake and ladder game, weekly activity programmes, outdoor games, cooking classes for children, henna sessions, face or T-shirt painting, and more. Parents can also utilise babysitting services available at the resort.

The landscaping around both garden and oceanfront villas has been enhanced. Garden villas now feature lush gardens for privacy while oceanfront villas offer sand next to their pools. The resort has planted various palms, coconut trees, flowering plants, and other tropical flora across its 80-acre garden.
Pavilion Restaurant operates six days a week with an à la carte menu for all in-house guests (table reservations required). Guests opting for the buffet restaurant can request personalised à la carte dishes to accommodate dietary needs. The resort also features a firewood pizza oven with live pizza-making during the day. Also participate in Swahili cooking classes and visit the nursery that supplies herbs and spices used in beverages served at the beach and main bars.
The resort is committed to sustainability with initiatives like a water bottling plant providing water in glass bottles and a sewage treatment plant recycling water. They support local markets by purchasing fresh produce locally. Single-use plastics have been eliminated along with straws.
A three-acre spice farm called Earth Basket is being developed to cultivate local herbs, spices, fruits, and other plants. This farm offers guests an immersive experience in local agriculture. Additionally, paper waste has been reduced by implementing IPTV which displays menus and services that guests can book directly.
The Residence Zanzibar supports local communities through partnerships with NGOs like Assalaam. The resort provides financial support and showcases products made by orphans and widows in its boutique. This initiative directly contributes to their development and empowerment.
Guests can participate in sustainability initiatives through the "Pack for Kizimkazi" programme which supports residents of Kizimkazi by encouraging specific in-kind donations during their stay. This approach aims to uplift the community sustainably without fostering dependency.
