LEGOLAND Hotel Dubai: Setting A New Standard For Unforgettable Family Holidays
Themed hotels, such as those offered by LEGOLAND, have become a significant trend in family-oriented tourism, blending immersive experiences with convenience and entertainment. These hotels, designed to extend the magic of theme parks into overnight stays, are particularly popular among families with kids.
Running a resort like LEGOLAND Hotel is no ordinary task — it's a vibrant, high-energy environment that demands a unique vision: thinking like a child while managing the complexities of a full-scale resort.

At the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai earlier this week, Grant Budde, Hotel Director of LEGOLAND Hotel Dubai, shared exclusive insights with OneArabia.me into how the region's first LEGO-themed hotel continues to set the benchmark for creative, child-first hospitality.
An Immersive, Child-First Experience
"LEGOLAND Hotel is redefining the family stay by offering a fully immersive experience you don't find elsewhere in the region," Budde explains. Unlike traditional hotels where guests might feel like just another number, LEGOLAND Hotel makes families part of the destination. From the moment guests step into the elevator — complete with a disco ball, lights, and music — to walking through corridors designed like scenes from LEGO Ninjago or other themed worlds, the hotel creates a sense of wonder.
"Children walk in and just go, 'Wow,'" Budde says, describing the emotional impact on young guests who feel transported to another planet.

The hotel features five distinct room themes, each designed to spark imagination. Rooms accommodate up to five people, with separate areas for parents and children, including bunk beds and LEGO-themed elements like spiders on the floor or adventure characters. "It's about creating a complete, immersive experience where kids forget where they are," Budde notes. This focus on family-centric design, catering to children aged 2 to 12 and their parents, is in the hotel's DNA.
Evolving Experiences
LEGOLAND Hotel keeps its offerings fresh through evolving activities and strategic partnerships. The annual Splash Festival, launched last year and expanded in 2025, transforms the summer experience by combining water park access with hotel-based after-parties. "During Dubai's peak heat, guests can enjoy a full day at our water park, then continue the party at the hotel," Budde says. Similarly, the recent LEGO Formula One partnership introduced the "Build to Thrill" activation, extending F1-themed experiences from the theme park to the hotel.
These initiatives ensure that every stay feels new, with events and activities seamlessly integrated across the hotel, theme park, and water park. "As a guest, you'll see touches of each event throughout the destination, which is key to the experience," Budde emphasises.
A Global Family Destination
LEGOLAND Hotel Dubai attracts a diverse audience, with guests from over 166 countries in 2025 alone. While the GCC market remains the largest, driven by staycations during school holidays, the hotel is increasingly targeting international visitors from Western and Eastern Europe, China, and beyond. "We've moved from staycation mode to a holiday destination focus," Budde says, highlighting the hotel's growing appeal as a global family travel hub.
The synergy between the hotel, theme park, and water park enhances its year-round appeal. In winter, the theme park takes center stage; in summer, the water park becomes the hero. This flexibility ensures guests have access to full activities regardless of the season, with exclusive hotel guest perks like after-parties reinforcing the seamless experience.
Positioning the Water Park
In a region with established water park brands like Aquaventure, LEGOLAND Water Park carves out a niche by targeting families with children aged 2 to 12. "Our water park is about creating a family-oriented party atmosphere," Budde explains.
The Splash Festival features music, dancers, DJs, and water guns, giving kids their own "party" in a safe, family-friendly environment. Marketing efforts focus on positioning LEGOLAND as a unique destination where children can have fun while parents feel included in the experience.
Themed Hotels in the MENA Region
Themed hotels are still a relatively new concept in the GCC, with LEGOLAND Hotel being one of the only fully themed properties in the region. "Our job has been about educating our audience on what to expect from a fully themed property," Budde says.
The success of LEGOLAND Hotel is paving the way for more themed hospitality ventures, as seen with emerging projects like Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. By offering differentiated, immersive experiences, themed hotels are helping elevate the region's booming hospitality industry.
Looking into the Future
Since opening, LEGOLAND Dubai has seen consistent growth, with 2025 marking a significant leap forward. "The first few years were about building awareness and educating our audience about what a LEGOLAND stay entails," Budde reflects. The hotel has now taken root as a premier family destination, with a defined focus on expanding its GCC presence and attracting more international visitors.
"Exhilarating, nonstop, fun, family, emotional, and a sense of belonging." These six words from Budde encapsulate the essence of LEGOLAND Hotel Dubai — a place where children dictate the experience, and parents follow, creating memories that last a lifetime. As Budde puts it, "Our number one client is the child. If they want to come back, they'll be our returning guest."
