Video: Red Sea International Airport Nears 80% Completion
The Red Sea International Airport (RSI), located 90km south of Al Wajh in western Saudi Arabia, has reached 80% completion, according to a recent social media announcement on X. The airport is already operational for domestic flights. RSI is a key component of the Red Sea Project, a major development spanning 28,000 square kilometres on the country's west coast aimed at creating a luxury tourism destination.
Designed as a transit hub for visitors, the Red Sea International Airport will be easily accessible to 250 million people within just three hours' flying time. Upon completion in 2030, it is set to serve one million passengers annually, with a peak capacity of 900 passengers per hour. The number of visitors will be limited to one million based on the environmental carrying capacity of the new Red Sea development.
The airport aims to become a world-class aviation hub and will be powered entirely by renewable energy sources. This commitment to sustainability aligns with the broader goals of the Red Sea Project, which seeks to establish an environmentally responsible luxury tourism destination.
Our airport is now 80% complete, marking a significant milestone on our journey to creating a world-class aviation hub.
