Explore Oman: Sultanate Offers 10-Day Free Visit Visa To Boost Cruise Tourism
A 10-day free visit visa will now be available to passengers and crew members of cruise ships visiting Oman. This initiative aims to boost tourism in the Sultanate by attracting more visitors, according to Times of Oman report.
His Excellency Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsen Al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, issued Decision No. 132/2024. This decision amends certain provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners' Residence Law.

Amendments to Visa Regulations
The amendments include changes to Clause (3/c) of Article (10) of the Executive Regulations. The new clause outlines two types of visit visas for cruise ship passengers and crew:
1. A 10-day visa: Issued upon request by the tourist ship agent, this visa allows entry within 30 days from issuance for tourism purposes.
2. A one-month visa: Also issued upon request by the tourist ship agent, this visa permits entry within 30 days from issuance for tourism purposes.
Article (2) modifies Sequence (13) in the entry visa table under Article (29) of the Executive Regulations. It now states: "A free visit visa is granted to passengers and crew of cruise ships for a period not exceeding 10 days."
Additionally, Article (3) cancels Sequence (12) in the same entry visa table.
This decision is expected to significantly enhance Oman's appeal as a tourist destination, making it easier for cruise ship visitors to explore the country without additional visa costs.
The new regulations are part of Oman's broader strategy to stimulate its tourism sector and diversify its economy. By simplifying entry requirements, Oman hopes to attract more international tourists and boost local businesses.
The amendments reflect Oman's commitment to making travel more accessible and convenient for visitors arriving by sea. This move aligns with global trends in promoting tourism through streamlined visa processes.
