IndiGo Boosts Abu Dhabi Operations, Adds Three More Indian Cities To Its Daily Network
Abu Dhabi Airports has unveiled an expansion of its network and connectivity, announcing the initiation of daily flights from Zayed International Airport to three key destinations in India: Chandigarh, Kannur and Lucknow. This development comes as IndiGo, India's preferred airline, bolsters its operation from Abu Dhabi, marking a significant increase in its flight schedule.
Since commencing operations at Zayed International Airport in 2020, IndiGo has now increased its weekly flights by 50%, resulting in a total of 63 weekly frequencies. This expansion includes the launch of flights to Chandigarh, a city previously not served by the airport, increasing the total number of destinations connected through Zayed International Airport to over 120.

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, highlighted the importance of these new routes, stating, "The launch of these new routes marks an important milestone in the commitment to our partnership and readiness to expand and diversify our network of destinations. This enhanced connectivity not only strengthens our position as a preferred hub in the region but also reinforces Abu Dhabi's connectivity with key destinations in India."
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, expressed enthusiasm over the expansion, commenting, "We are delighted to announce our latest network expansion from the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. This strategic expansion will solidify our presence in the UAE and present discerning business and leisure travellers with an array of improved flight options, enabling effortless connectivity across our unmatched network. We remain committed to collaborating with Abu Dhabi Airports."
The expansion by IndiGo into new Indian cities from Abu Dhabi underscores the growing importance of the UAE as a global aviation hub. Moreover, it signifies the strengthening of ties between the UAE and India, providing passengers with more travel options and facilitating greater cultural and business exchanges between the two nations. With the inclusion of these new flights, travellers will now have access to an even broader array of destinations, affirming Abu Dhabi's strategic positioning as a central nexus for international air travel.
