Etihad Airways Gears Up For Summer: New Routes, Family-Friendly Services And More
Etihad Airways is preparing for a busy summer holiday season. The airline is expecting around five million guests to pass through Zayed International Airport during the peak period. Shaeb Alnuaimi, Etihad's Director of Airports Operation, expressed excitement about the summer season, particularly with the launch of new routes to destinations such as Malaga, Antalya, Santorini, Nice, Jaipur, Al Qassim, Mykonos, and Bali.
Alnuaimi highlighted the award-winning cabin crew, family-friendly offerings, and cabin choices as factors that contribute to the remarkable travel experiences that guests can expect from Etihad Airways. Additionally, the airline's move to Zayed International Airport has enhanced the travel experience by providing seamless travel and a world-class customer experience.
To ensure a convenient and safe travel experience for guests during the busy summer period, Etihad Airways has provided travel tips and reminders. One of the tips is to utilize the online check-in service available on the etihad.com website or mobile app. Guests can check-in online and then use the self-service bag drop facility at the airport to quickly and easily weigh, tag, and collect their boarding pass.
Home and Offsite Check-In
For added convenience, Etihad Airways has set up offsite check-in and bag-drop facilities at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal, The Fountains - YAS Mall, Mussafah, and Al Ain. Customers using these facilities will also receive 2,000 Etihad Guest Miles between June 10 and August 15.
Etihad Airways also offers a home check-in service, allowing guests to check in for their flight from the comfort of their own home at least seven hours before departure. This service includes checking in bags, choosing seats, and collecting boarding passes and luggage tags. Non-transit passengers who use the home check-in service can skip the queues at Abu Dhabi International Airport and collect their luggage at the destination baggage belt.
Upgrade Options
For greater comfort during the school holidays, Etihad Airways provides pre-purchase seating and upgrade options. The "Economy Extra Legroom" option offers a generous area for guests to stretch their legs, while the "Neighbour-free Seat" option allows guests to bid for a seat with no neighboring passengers at least 72 hours before departure.
Guests traveling on Etihad Airways operated flights from Abu Dhabi can also pre-purchase First and Business Class Lounge access up to 90 minutes before departure. Lounge access vouchers can be purchased online or through the Manage My Booking section. Walk-in lounge access is available based on availability for guests who did not purchase the voucher in advance.
Better Check-In Options
During peak times, Economy Class check-in for non-US flights opens four hours before departure and closes one hour before departure. Business and First class check-in closes 45 minutes before departure. Boarding for all Etihad Airways departures closes 20 minutes prior to departure for guests in all classes.
For guests traveling to certain destinations in the US, they can complete all immigration and customs formalities in Abu Dhabi before departing. These guests must check in two hours before departure and present themselves at the US Customs and Border Protection facility no later than 90 minutes before departure.
App Facility
Etihad Airways offers a mobile app that allows guests to check in 30 hours before departure and download an electronic boarding pass. The app also provides features such as preferred seat selection, pre-purchasing additional baggage, and flight status information.
Baggage Convenience
For a seamless travel experience, guests can take advantage of self-service bag drops and biometric recognition at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Self-service bag drops allow guests to drop off their checked luggage before passing through immigration e-gates. Boarding can also be completed using a biometric scan on certain flights.
Etihad Airways maintains a cabin baggage policy of 7kg for Economy Class and 12kg for First and Business Class guests. The maximum dimensions for cabin baggage are height 50cm, depth 25cm, and width 40cm. The weight of cabin baggage will be verified at check-in.Etihad Airways encourages guests to check their e-ticket or the airline's website for the baggage policy related to their specific fare, destination, or class of travel. Additional baggage can be pre-purchased at special rates through the Etihad Airways app or website.
Have Baggage Delivered at Home
For guests arriving at Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways offers the Land & Leave service. This service allows guests to have their bags safely delivered to their home or hotel in Abu Dhabi, eliminating the need to wait for baggage after landing. The service can be booked through the MORAFIQ app or MORAFIQ online. Bags will be delivered within three hours of the flight's actual arrival time.With these various services and options, Etihad Airways aims to provide a convenient and enjoyable travel experience for all guests during the busy summer season.
