Etihad Airways Launches New A321LR Flight To Phuket, Redefining Luxury Air Travel Experience
In a step towards enhancing luxury air travel on shorter routes, Etihad Airways has rolled out its brand-new A321LR aircraft. The first flight, EY414, recently took off from Zayed International Airport to Phuket, showcasing this state-of-the-art, narrowbody airplane tailored to deliver the airline's prestigious cabin standards typically experienced on long-haul segments.
This move by Etihad introduces passengers to a new era of cabin innovation, emphasizing the same level of service and attention to detail that passengers expect from its award-winning widebody fleet, now accessible on a next-generation single-aisle aircraft. The introduction of the A321LR marks a noteworthy advancement in the airline's offerings, particularly on short to medium-haul flights.
Arik De, Etihad Airways' chief revenue and commercial officer, stated, "The A321LR symbolises our ambition to deliver extraordinary experiences on every route we serve. It allows us to bring the sophistication of our widebody cabins, including our renowned First experience, to more destinations, and to more travellers, than ever before."
Etihad's commitment to innovation is evident in the A321LR's cabin layout, which sets a new standard for travel on narrowbody aircraft. The plane features two private First Suites, offering unparalleled privacy with sliding doors, flatbeds, and an elegant design that allows guests to dine or relax in solitude or with a companion. These suites are equipped with a 20-inch 4K screen, wireless charging, and Bluetooth pairing, ensuring a luxurious experience akin to widebody aircraft.
The business class section boasts fourteen seats in a 1-1 herringbone configuration, ensuring every passenger has direct aisle access and a window view. Enhanced with 17.3-inch 4K displays, wireless charging, and Bluetooth connectivity, the business class cabin offers ample personal space and intuitive storage solutions.
Meanwhile, the economy class redefines comfort with 144 ergonomically designed seats, offering generous legroom and equipped with 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens, USB charging, and Bluetooth headphone pairing. The in-flight entertainment includes a selection of premium films, series, and games, catering to diverse tastes and preferences.
All cabins in the A321LR are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, supporting video conferencing, movie streaming, and gaming, which is being progressively rolled out on Asian routes. The aircraft also features enlarged overhead bins, enhancing comfort and convenience for all passengers. This comprehensive approach to improving the travel experience reflects Etihad's dedication to setting new benchmarks in the industry.
In July 2025, Etihad welcomed the first of 30 A321LR aircraft destined to join its fleet, each meticulously designed to offer unmatched comfort, sophisticated design, and high-speed connectivity.
