Emirates To Roll Out Refurbished Boeing 777 Aircraft To These International Cities First

Emirates has announced the first cities to receive its refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft, featuring new cabin interiors. Geneva, Tokyo Haneda, and Brussels will be the initial destinations for the upgraded planes, which include Emirates' Premium Economy and next-generation Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. The flights are now available for booking on the Emirates website, app, or through travel agents.

The first upgraded Emirates Boeing 777 services will operate on EK 83/84 to and from Geneva from 11 August*, EK 312/313 to and from Tokyo Haneda from 1 September*, and EK 183/184 to and from Brussels from 11 September*.

Upgraded Boeing 777 Flights by Emirates

Starting on 1 July, the first Emirates Boeing 777 will undergo a nose-to-tail cabin interior facelift, taking approximately two weeks before returning to service. The refurbishment plans include updating the First Class cabin, installing 38 new Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 seating configuration, adding 24 of the latest Premium Economy seats, and fitting 256 Economy Class seats.

Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates Airline, stated that the revamped Boeing 777s would allow them to introduce their acclaimed products like Premium Economy to more cities served by this aircraft type. He also mentioned that the new Business Class cabin would offer more privacy for customers, along with other thoughtful touches reflecting their exceptional value proposition.

Business Class Features

The newly refurbished Boeing 777's Business Class seats focus on personalised privacy and elevated comfort. They convert into a comfortable flat bed with wide seats pitched up to 44 inches apart. The staggered seating arrangement ensures aisle access for every seat, with direct entry and exit for customers.

Each seat is equipped with a touch screen controller for in-flight entertainment and seat operation, a personal 23-inch HD screen linked to the airline's award-winning ice entertainment system, a personal mini-bar, a large table, ample stowage for personal devices, charging outlets, and more. A small bar will also be available in the Business Class cabin for passengers to grab mid-flight snacks and refreshments.

In total, Emirates will refurbish 81 Boeing 777s as part of its retrofit programme. More destinations served by the airline's latest products will be announced over the next few months. The airline has allocated over US$3 billion for its retrofit programme – the largest known in the industry – which aims to revamp a total of 191 aircraft.

Currently, Emirates operates its refurbished A380 aircraft fitted with Premium Economy on routes to New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London Heathrow, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, Melbourne, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Sao Paulo, Tokyo Narita, Osaka and Dubai.

By February 2025, Emirates aims to serve over 36 cities with Premium Economy as it adds A350s to its fleet starting in September this year and rolls out more refurbished A380s and Boeing 777s flying to additional cities in the coming months.
