Emirates Now Serves 23 East Asian Destinations With New Vietnam and Cambodia Routes
Emirates has notably increased its services in East Asia, introducing flights to Da Nang, Vietnam, and Siem Reap, Cambodia via Bangkok. This expansion brings Emirates' reach in the region to 23 destinations. The addition of these routes is a significant part of the airline's effort to boost connectivity amidst a surge in travel and trade innovations.
The commencement of flights on 2 June to Da Nang and on 3 June to Siem Reap was met with ceremonial water cannon salutes. High-ranking officials and airport authorities welcomed the Emirates teams at both locations, highlighting the importance of these new services.
Operated by the Boeing 777-300ER, these routes feature Emirates' renowned onboard services and products. They also offer direct links to Dubai, facilitating easy access to the airline's global network.
Nabil Sultan, Executive Vice President of Emirates for Passenger Sales and Country Management, expressed the significance of the Bangkok-connected routes. He emphasized how they underscore Emirates' commitment to Thailand as a key entry point to Southeast Asia.
"Launching two new routes via Bangkok marks a significant milestone in strengthening Emirates' presence in Southeast Asia and reinforces our long-standing commitment to Thailand as a strategic gateway to the region," Sultan stated.
The airline's strategy in Southeast Asia is propelled by robust bilateral relations and growing demands for travel and trade. Partnerships with governments, tourism authorities, and airports have been crucial in this expansion.
The addition of Da Nang as a destination follows Emirates' already established flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It will play a crucial role in shipping high-value goods such as electronics and textiles. Emirates has cemented its presence in Vietnam with 25 weekly flights, supported by recent agreements with Vietnam Airlines, VietJet, and Sun Group, which aim to boost air connectivity and attract more tourists to the country.
The three weekly flights to Siem Reap via Bangkok, along with the daily flights to Phnom Penh via Singapore, increase Emirates' operations in Cambodia to 10 weekly flights. These new services are optimally scheduled to cater to tourists from Europe, fostering cultural and business exchanges under the CEPA agreements with Cambodia and Vietnam.
The launch of these routes was also marked by a special celebration at Emirates' refurbished lounge in Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, emphasizing Bangkok's central role in Emirates' plans for the region. This event, attended by an Emirates delegation and local dignitaries, showcased the airline's commitment to enhancing its network within Southeast Asia.
