Almanac X Alcron Prague: Where Historical Charm Meets Modern Czech Artistry

The renowned Prague hotel Alcron, situated in the heart of one of Europe's most picturesque cities, has undergone a complete transformation. Earlier this year, it reopened as Almanac X Alcron Prague after an extensive renovation.

The hotel, part of the luxurious Almanac Hotels collection owned by the Viennese Haselbacher family, saw all its rooms and social spaces revamped. The Spanish studio Tres Cinco Uno led the design efforts, collaborating with Czech architects from the Marani studio. The result is a stunning blend of historical charm and modern elegance.

Art Deco Heritage Meets Modern Design

Originally opened in the 1930s, Hotel Alcron was celebrated for its Art Deco style. Many original elements were preserved during the renovation, seamlessly integrating with contemporary design features. This sophisticated mix is enhanced by modern works from several talented Czech artists, adding a unique atmosphere to the hotel.

Upon entering the hotel, guests are greeted by an impressive eight-meter mural behind the reception desk. Created by Lucie Jindrák Skřivánková, a prominent figure in contemporary Czech art, this piece exemplifies her abstract structural painting style. Her works also adorn the hotel lobby and presidential suite.

Artistic Highlights Throughout

The hotel's dedication to art continues in various spaces. Patrik Kriššák's paintings are displayed in the Alcron Restaurant and along the marble staircase. His work focuses on coral reefs and reflects current climate issues, aligning with Almanac X's commitment to sustainability.

Almanac Castle View Suites feature original artwork by Alžběty Josefy. Her paintings explore objectivity through organic forms inspired by human anatomy. These pieces create an absorbing illusion using techniques that reveal underlying layers of paint.

Czech Modernity at Its Best

Michaela Červená's paintings can be found in the Junior Suites. Her work is known for its gentle, feminine approach and intuitive creation process. She explores themes related to everyday life and personal identity through her unique poetic style.

The hotel's connection to Czech glassmaking tradition is evident in a limited collection of glass vases, planters, bowls, and other objects created by Studio Salanský for the restaurant and lobby. Founded in 2012 by brothers Jan and Ondřej Salanský, their work combines traditional glassblowing techniques with a distinctive artistic approach.
