Explore The Natural Beauty And Cultural Heritage Of Al-Adhah Village In Saudi's Al-Baha Region

Al-Baha Region is a distinctive tourist spot, known for its rich cultural heritage and ancient villages that blend natural beauty with history. Al-Adhah Village, situated in Baydan Center northeast of Al-Baha, is one of the most notable heritage sites. Positioned at the base of the Sarawat Mountains, it offers views of the Al-Baha Pass Road, valleys, and Tihama plains.

Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Dahri shared insights about Al-Adhah's past, where over 10 families once resided. They constructed stone houses, dug wells, and engaged in farming and herding. The village consists of more than 20 houses, each one to three stories tall. These structures showcase traditional regional architecture and preserve the community's cultural memory.

"These houses are a testimony to our ancestors' social and economic life," Al-Dahri stated. "They reflect deep belonging to the land and human creativity in using natural materials to build homes adapted to the terrain and climate." The village also served as a stopover for travelers from Tihama heading to popular markets like Al-Khamis in Al-Baha.

Mohammed Al-Baydhani highlighted the village's stunning location with expansive views of the Sarawat Mountains and Tihama. Villagers depended on rainwater, natural springs, and a communal pool for water, especially during dry seasons. However, reaching the village by car remains challenging; it is accessible only on foot via a 6-kilometer trail used by hikers.

The Al-Baha Region boasts over 194 archaeological and heritage sites, including 72 heritage villages. These villages are not only cultural gems but also vital for tourism and economic growth. They align with Saudi Arabia’s national tourism vision and broader objectives under Vision 2030.

These heritage sites continue to draw visitors globally, serving as venues for cultural, historical, and heritage festivals. This influx supports tourism while promoting economic development within the region.

The enduring appeal of these villages underscores their importance as both cultural treasures and economic assets in line with national goals.
