Wedknott enters wedding planning market with Aurezia Events acquisition
Matchmaking firm Wedknott acquires wedding planner Aurezia Events. New Delhi (August 18): Elite matchmaking platform Wedknott announced on Tuesday that it has purchased premium wedding planning and design firm Aurezia Events for an undisclosed amount, signaling the company's expansion into the wedding services sector.
According to a company statement, Wedknott has secured a majority equity stake in the business. Aurezia Events is set to maintain its existing brand identity while broadening its reach within the weddings and events industry, with founder Peres remaining with the firm as Co-Founder and Director.
Industry estimates suggest that India sees nearly 10 million weddings each year, representing a market valued at USD 130 billion (about Rs 11 lakh crore). The landscape is currently quite fragmented; planning a single wedding frequently requires coordinating with dozens of different vendors for venues, decor, photography, and hospitality, often leading to inconsistent standards of quality and accountability. The firm noted that approximately 45 per cent of the couples matched through its platform had previously requested support with their wedding planning needs. "Finding the right partner was never the end of our responsibility. It was the beginning of a bigger journey. Nearly half our couples were already asking us to stay on," Wedknott Founder and CEO Abhinav Gandhi said. The statement indicated that the integrated service offering will launch starting this wedding season, covering metro areas, Tier 1 cities, and popular destination wedding locations. Established in 2018, the Noida-based Wedknott currently supports over 2,000 families across 75 cities and four continents. In January 2026, the company secured funding from Pratik Gauri, a serial entrepreneur and investor celebrated for championing the purpose-driven 5th Industrial Revolution, with accolades from the World Economic Forum, Forbes, and TED.
