A Historic Milestone: Supria Dhanda Becomes GIM's First Woman Founding Donor

The Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has officially designated Ms. Supria Dhanda, an alumna from the MBA Class of 1998, as the institution's inaugural woman Founding Donor for the GIM Endowment Fund. This distinction follows her donation of ₹1.025 crore, marking one of the most significant alumni contributions in the history of the school.

To honor this generous gift, GIM has dedicated one of its student residence halls to Ms. Dhanda. Furthermore, she has been named as one of the first individuals to be featured on GIM's Star Walk, which serves as India's premier alumni donor recognition installation, modeled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Supria Dhanda: GIM's First Woman Founding Donor

During the GIM Foundation Day event, Prof. Ajit Parulekar, Director of the Goa Institute of Management, felicitated Ms. Dhanda before an audience of faculty, students, alumni, and notable guests. The ceremony highlighted her professional evolution from a GIM student to a prominent technology executive, venture capitalist, and philanthropist. Currently, she serves as the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at WYSER, as well as the Founder of the BAGGGEL Foundation.

On being recognised as GIM's first woman Founding Donor, Ms. Supria Dhanda said, "Strong institutions shape nations. Contributing to the GIM Endowment Fund is my way of giving back to an institution that has been part of my journey. I appreciate GIM and its partner, Univariety, for creating a platform that makes it easier for alumni to come together and contribute. I hope more alumni will join this effort to support future generations of students."

Speaking about the significance of alumni philanthropy, Prof. Ajit Parulekar, Director, Goa Institute of Management, said, "Institutions are built not only through academic excellence but also through the enduring commitment of those who have benefited from them. Supria's contribution reflects the confidence that alumni place in GIM's future and in the role the Endowment Fund can play in creating opportunities for generations of students. We are honoured to recognise her as our first woman Founding Donor."

The GIM Endowment Fund represents a key effort by the Institute to foster a lasting culture of alumni giving. By leveraging donations from alumni like Ms. Dhanda, the Fund is designed to bolster GIM's long-term objectives regarding academic excellence, innovation, and student support. This initiative, created in partnership with Univariety, offers a formalized channel for alumni to provide financial support to the Institute.
