Pink Power Run 2026 Unites Hyderabad for Breast Cancer Awareness, Early Detection and Women’s Health
Hyderabad witnessed a massive turnout on Sunday, September 27, for the 3rd Edition of the Pink Power Run. This community-led initiative is dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, advocating for early detection, and championing preventive healthcare for women. Hosted at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, Hyderabad, the event saw individuals from all walks of life unite for a common cause, taking strides in support of awareness, hope, and solidarity.
Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) and the Sudha Reddy Foundation organised the event under the banner "Hope. Health. Healing." This year’s focus remained steadfast on the necessity of breast cancer awareness, routine screenings, early detection, and the adoption of healthier lifestyles. The event was flagged off by Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development D Anasuya, DGP C V Anand, MEIL Group Managing Director P V Krishna Reddy, Sudha Reddy Foundation Founder Sudha Reddy, former Miss World Thailand Opal Suchata Chuangsri, professional boxer Vijender Singh, Hero Siddu Jonnalagadda and others.
Community runs like the Pink Power Run serve as a vital platform to encourage open dialogue regarding women's health. Necklace Road transformed into a vibrant celebration, buzzing with the energy and enthusiasm of the participants. Every runner embraced the mantra, "Run for awareness, run for hope and run for change." The 3rd edition of the Pink Power Run featured four distinct race categories: 3 KM, 5 KM, 10 KM and 21 KM. Participants selected their distance based on their personal fitness goals and running experience. With a reporting time of 5:30 AM, the race officially commenced at 6:00 AM. From the very first step, participants championed the cause of breast cancer awareness and preventive women's healthcare. The 21 KM category saw significant international participation, with runners joining from countries including the UK, USA, Netherlands, Srilanka and Canada. The event’s central theme, "Let’s Paint the City Pink!" captured the spirit of a community rallying for awareness, prevention, and hope. The Pink Power Run extended beyond a simple race; it provided a platform for meaningful conversations about women's health. Families, runners, supporters, and community members gathered with a shared commitment to solidarity. The atmosphere underscored the importance of preventive healthcare and encouraged individuals to prioritize their well-being. By emphasizing early detection and the necessity of medical guidance, the event created an accessible space to discuss women's health openly. A notable highlight was the participation of Ramabai Ranveer, a 47-year-old mother from Ambajogai in Beed District who has previously run barefoot to support her child's education. Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development D Anasuya (Seethakka) shared on X that breast cancer is curable when detected early, urging women to undergo regular checkups and consult a doctor if any suspicious symptoms arise. Krishna Reddy (MEIL Managing Director) noted that integrating fitness into daily routines is a key step in disease prevention. Sudha Reddy, Founder of the Sudha Reddy Foundation, remarked, "This is the third year of Pink Power Run. As we grew up in Hyderabad, fitness is a top priority, and everyone should carry this energy even after the run and spread it to your family and friends."
