Mission ShakthiSAT: Partner With the World's First All-Girls Moon Mission
Mission ShakthiSAT Invites Global Partnerships for a Historic Moon Mission. Chennai, India — 26 May 2026 - Mission ShakthiSAT, the groundbreaking all-girls lunar satellite project spearheaded by Dr. Srimathy Kesan, is widening its international scope. The initiative is now calling on universities, global organizations, industry players, STEM advocates, educators, and policymakers to join what is shaping up to be one of the most significant educational space endeavors in the world.
Under the guidance of Space Kidz India, the project is dedicated to uplifting over 12,000 girls across 108 nations through a focus on space science, leadership, diplomacy, and collaborative research. Since its inception on 16 January 2025, which saw participation from 108 countries, the mission has grown into a worldwide network linking ambassadors, scientists, educators, and students, all united by the goal of fostering leadership and space education for young women.

A significant step forward was the introduction of a 21-module curriculum, accessible via the Zoho Learn platform. Crafted by a team of professors, scientists, and global experts, the coursework offers students hands-on experience in satellite technology, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and leadership. The program aims to cultivate scientific inquiry, teamwork, and future-ready skills among young women globally.
Mission ShakthiSAT is proudly supported by an esteemed international advisory network including Dr. Claire Nelson, Dr. Hashima Hasan, Alma Okpalefe, Huma Siddiqui, Maria Militsopoulou, Melina Maghazehi, and Yip ThyDiep Ta, whose international expertise and leadership continue to strengthen the mission’s global impact and collaborative vision.
Currently, the project is transitioning into Phase 2, which emphasizes scientific exchange, international partnerships, and satellite integration. This phase involves incorporating payload concepts from various continents. Key partners include Macquarie University representing Australia, Shamaal Space representing South America, the University of South Alabama and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University representing the United States, the Egyptian Space Agency representing the African continent, and SMW Engineering representing Europe. These alliances highlight a commitment to global unity and shared innovation in space exploration.
Blending aerospace technology with the creative sector, Mission ShakthiSAT is reimagining how scientific projects present their visual identity. The team is actively seeking partnerships with top-tier fashion design institutions, photographers, and makeup artists to help craft a distinct, globally recognized brand for this historic mission.
To support this, the mission will present the world’s first-ever "Space Meets Fashion" Ramp Show on 29 August 2026. This event will merge space science, sustainability, and creativity on a global stage. The organizers are inviting fashion schools, creative studios, and visual artists to participate. Additionally, the International Women Diplomacy Summit is scheduled for 28 August 2026. This gathering will convene women leaders, scientists, policymakers, and young changemakers to explore topics like STEM, diplomacy, and sustainability. Further details on the summit, including registration, will be released shortly.
Beyond education, Mission ShakthiSAT is advocating for a new approach to Lower Earth Orbit (LEO) resource management. By aligning the goals of various nations toward shared scientific discovery, the project aims to reduce the need for redundant satellite launches. A single, collaborative satellite can effectively gather and share data among all partners. This framework demonstrates how international cooperation can help manage orbital crowding and improve space debris mitigation. The mission also intends to launch a dedicated LEO satellite to promote sustainable space practices and responsible orbital use for future generations.
This historic initiative is scheduled to launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on 11 October 2026, coinciding with the International Day of the Girl Child. Mission ShakthiSAT is more than just a satellite project; it serves as a global platform for peace, innovation, and education. It reflects the ambitions of young girls everywhere and seeks to inspire the next generation of scientists and leaders. As the project expands, Mission ShakthiSAT welcomes universities, corporations, and government bodies to join in shaping the future of women in space.
