Jaipur Debate: Witnessing the Future of Indian Oratory at Neerja Modi School
The 12th edition of The Jaipur Debate, hosted by the debating society at Neerja Modi School, Jaipur, took place from July 30 to August 1. The event served as a national stage, uniting some of the country’s most promising young debaters. Throughout the three-day competition, participants engaged in a rigorous test of analytical thinking, persuasive speaking, and argumentation.
Featuring both junior and senior categories, the championship offered tailored platforms for both up-and-coming speakers and seasoned debaters to articulate their viewpoints with logic and precision. Success in every round required thorough preparation, quick thinking, and the capacity to maintain composure under intense pressure.
Structured around the Asian Parliamentary format, the competition placed equal weight on substance and style. Delivering a confident speech was insufficient on its own; debaters were required to pinpoint the core issue, justify the relevance of their stance, address counter-arguments, and remain adaptable as the debates evolved. The motions covered a broad spectrum of contemporary topics, including politics, international relations, economics, culture, society, and global affairs. These themes challenged students to explore complex questions that seldom offered straightforward or universally agreed-upon solutions. Participants were tasked with weighing competing values, evaluating potential consequences, and defending viewpoints that often diverged from their own beliefs. Beyond public speaking, the event demanded intellectual agility and a genuine commitment to engaging with opposing arguments. The tournament offered a distinct opportunity for enthusiastic debaters to learn from one another, collaborate, and forge enduring friendships with peers from across the nation. This interaction reinforced the event’s national scope, transforming every round into a rich exchange of experiences. Over the course of 12 editions, The Jaipur Debate has cultivated a unique competitive reputation, attracting well-prepared teams from all over India and setting a high bar within the school debating circuit. By gathering India’s young debaters for this 12th edition, Neerja Modi School once again offered a premier venue for competitive discourse and intellectual engagement. The Jaipur Debate 2026 honored a generation ready not just to speak, but to question, analyse and defend its ideas with clarity.
