Galgotias University hits new heights in 2027 global rankings

Galgotias University has surged 24 spots to reach the 41st position among all Indian universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, which were published today. This marks a notable improvement from its 65th-place ranking in the 2026 edition. The University has also entered the top 20 private institutions in India and advanced into the 1001-1200 global band, while its recognition in the QS 2027 rankings further bolsters its international reputation. Within the private sector in India, the institution has climbed seven spots to secure 20th place, up from 27th the previous year. On the international stage, it has advanced from the 1201-1500 band to the 1001-1200 band. This progress complements the University’s performance in the QS World University Rankings 2027, where Galgotias holds a position in the 1201-1400 global band. In that assessment, it ranks 16th among private universities in India, 46th among all Indian universities, and 3rd among private institutions in Uttar Pradesh. Its inclusion in both THE and QS world rankings represents a significant milestone in its evolution as a globally recognized institution. The 2027 edition evaluates 2,297 universities across 118 countries and territories, an increase from 2,191 last year.

Research strength

THE evaluates institutions based on teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry engagement. Research quality was highlighted as a key strength in the 2026 edition. Galgotias currently boasts over 9,940 Scopus-indexed publications, more than 80,780 citations, and an h-index of 104. Furthermore, seven faculty members are ranked among the top 2 percent of scientists globally, and the University manages 16 government-funded research projects supported by agencies such as ICSSR, ANRF, CSIR and SERB.

Expanding international partnerships

Galgotias University is actively expanding its global footprint across Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore, fostering academic cooperation, student exchange, faculty development and joint research.

Most recently, the University finalized a five-year cooperation agreement with the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, aimed at promoting academic exchanges, joint research, and scientific collaboration. A recent Letter of Intent with Krirk University, Thailand, establishes a framework for collaborative academic programmes, research, student mobility, and faculty development, alongside initiatives focused on entrepreneurship and women’s leadership.

In Japan, the University has formalized an MoU with the Yamanashi Prefectural Government and a Letter of Intent with the University of Yamanashi, creating a foundation for talent mobility and research into clean energy, including green hydrogen. These agreements were established during the visit of a 200-member delegation led by Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki.

In Vietnam, partnerships with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF), and the Saigon Hi-Tech Park ecosystem are linking academic collaboration with applied research, industry engagement, and semiconductor initiatives.

These international connections are also creating specific study opportunities. Through an MoU with Girton College, University of Cambridge, 16 Galgotias students were selected for a fully university-sponsored, two-week summer programme in Artificial Intelligence and Entrepreneurship in 2026. Additionally, collaboration with YNOV Campus, France, supports master’s programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Computer Science, which are structured around one year of study in India and one in France.

The University is also progressing its Galgotias Student-Centred Active Learning Ecosystem (G-SCALE) with consultancy and mentorship from InSPIRE at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. This model integrates practical projects, collaborative problem-solving, and the application of knowledge into the daily learning experience.

Industry partnerships

Accenture has partnered with Galgotias to introduce AI-embedded BTech and BBA programmes, with 40 percent of the curriculum delivered by Accenture experts. The Galgotias and Tata Technologies Future Mobility Centre of Excellence provides training in electric vehicles, embedded and software-defined vehicle systems, and mechanical design. Student outcomes

During 2026, Galgotias students secured more than 5,500 job offers from over 1,250 recruiters. The number of winners in Apple's Swift Student Challenge grew from 10 in 2025 to 18 in 2026. Notable student-developed applications include Sakhi, a tool for menstrual health, and Auticare, designed for early autism screening.
