Galgotias University Unveils Future: Their Race Cars Will Shock You

Galgotias University has launched the Formula Imperial & Indian Karting Race 2026 (IKR-2026), welcoming 40 teams representing 37 engineering institutions from 14 states. This national-level event focuses on automotive design, electric mobility, and sustainable transportation. Greater Noida, 10 October 2026: The campus is currently serving as the hub for this major competition, where participants are showcasing their skills across both Go-Kart and Formula Imperial categories.

The Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIEINDIA) is organizing the event in partnership with Galgotias University. Throughout the competition, students are tasked with designing, constructing, and racing their own vehicles. This hands-on experience allows them to translate theoretical classroom knowledge into practical engineering solutions while testing their mettle against counterparts from top-tier technical colleges.

The roster of participating institutions features prominent names such as IIT Roorkee, NIT Warangal, NIT Calicut, NIT Raipur, Jadavpur University, VIT, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, KIIT, and Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. These teams have arrived from across the country, representing Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, Kerala, Haryana, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

The inauguration ceremony saw attendance from representatives of the MSME Chamber of Commerce, JK Tyre Motorsports, Liqui Moly and IFEVA. These industry experts engaged with the students, discussing topics ranging from emerging technologies and entrepreneurship to current industry expectations.

Commenting on the event, Dr Dhruv Galgotia, Chief Executive Officer, Galgotias University, said, "Every vehicle on this track was designed, built and tested by students. That is the kind of engineering education industry is asking for, and IKR-2026 puts 40 teams through it under real competitive pressure."

As IKR-2026 progresses, the teams will enter the competitive phases. During this time, a panel of judges will assess the vehicles based on design quality, engineering choices, innovation, and overall teamwork, following an industry-standard evaluation format.
