World League Of Fighters To Debut Season With Grand Bangkok Ceremony

The World League of Fighters (WLF) is set to initiate its first season with a grand launch ceremony on June 1st at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. This event marks the beginning of a new era for Muay Thai enthusiasts, blending high-octane fights with live musical entertainment in a concept termed 'sportainment'. The ceremony will feature five thrilling Muay Thai bouts alongside performances from top musical talents, offering a unique experience to fans worldwide.

The New Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, a modern symbol of Muay Thai operated by the Royal Thai Army, will host this significant event. The stadium is a favorite spot for fans eager to witness the excitement of live fights. The launch is expected to draw notable attendees, including Mr. Rajesh Banga, Chairman of World League of Fighters, and Colonel Thanapol Bhakdibhumi, President of WBC Muay Thai, along with other co-founders and dignitaries.

The fight card includes a Cruiserweight bout between the USA's Matt Baker and Azerbaijan's Rauf Gerayzade, and a Middleweight fight where Thailand's Satanfah Sitsongpeenong faces Iran's Mohammad Sirasani. The Welterweight match will see India's Surya Sagar against Lithuania's Deividas Danyla, while in the Women's Featherweight bout, Russia's Dana Begzhanova takes on Spain's Alba Morral. The headline contest features a 170 Pound Catchweight battle between Kazakhstan's Ali Kabdulla and Armenia's Martun Mezhlumyan. Winners of these bouts will secure a Golden Ticket to the season of the World League of Fighters in Abu Dhabi later this year.

To add to the festivities, Thai pop sensation Kratae Rsiam and the popular Tong Twopee will perform live, setting a vibrant atmosphere for the event. Mr. Rajesh Banga expressed his enthusiasm for the launch, stating it as a glimpse of the grand spectacle planned for the inaugural season of the World League of Fighters. He highlighted the support from WBC Muay Thai and the Thai government in making this event possible at the New Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

The partnership between WLF and World Boxing Council Muay Thai aims to revolutionize Muay Thai by introducing a franchise-based league-style tournament featuring the world's top male and female fighters. These athletes will be divided into four franchises to compete in a round-robin format for the coveted WLF * WBC Title Belt.

Colonel Thanapol Bhakdibhumi shared his excitement about the league-styled competition, anticipating it to enhance the sport's popularity and reach globally. The launch event, according to him, will be a memorable celebration for Muay Thai fans, trainers, and fighters worldwide.

The initiative to merge Muay Thai with entertainment represents a novel approach in the history of combat sports, promising an unforgettable experience for attendees. The inaugural season of the World League of Fighters is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in September, setting the stage for an exciting future for the sport.
