UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team Triumphs With Seven Medals On Opening Day Of Championship In Jordan

On the opening day of the 9th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Amman, the UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team, backed by Mubadala Investment Company, showcased their talent by securing a total of seven medals. The event, held at Prince Hamzah Hall in Al Hussein Youth City, saw the clinch two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals across various men's categories, demonstrating their prowess in this prestigious continental contest.

Gold medals were awarded to Theyab Al Nuaimi in the 56kg category and Mohamed Ali Al Suwaidi in the 69kg category, marking significant achievements for the athletes. Omar Al Suwaidi and Khaled Al Shehhi earned silver in the 56kg and 62kg divisions, respectively, while Mehdi Al Awlaki, Hazza Al Qubaisi, and Faraj Al Awlaki claimed bronze in the 77kg, 85kg, and 94kg divisions, respectively.

UAE Team Wins Seven Medals in Jordan

Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, the Secretary-General of both the UAE and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations, extended his congratulations to the team, highlighting the crucial support from the nation's leadership as a cornerstone of their success. "Today's achievement boosts our confidence in the team and emphasizes our athletes' commitment to proudly represent the UAE," he stated, underscoring the athletes' discipline and the strategic contributions of the technical and administrative staff towards their victory.

The partnership with Mubadala, initiated in 2023, was particularly lauded by Al Shamsi for its significant role in enhancing the team's preparation and performance in major competitions. Head Coach Helder Medeiros expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, noting the exceptional quality of competition and the advancements in skill level among various Asian nations.
