Saudia Group And Airbus Forge Largest Aviation Deal To Elevate Saudi Fleet
A delegation from Saudi Arabia and Germany, including diplomats, business leaders, media representatives, and officials from the Saudia Group, visited the Airbus manufacturing facility in Hamburg, Germany. This visit aligns with Saudi Arabia's ambitious aviation plans and represents the largest investment in the Saudia Group's history.
In May, the Saudia Group signed a historic deal with Airbus to purchase 105 aircraft. This agreement includes 54 A321neo aircraft for Saudia and 51 aircraft for Flyadeal, consisting of 12 A320neo and 39 A321neo aircraft. Upon delivery, Saudia's fleet will be among the most modern globally.

Khaled bin Abdulqadir Tash, Saudia Group's chief marketing officer, detailed the group's aircraft deal with Airbus. He highlighted its alignment with their strategy to connect the world to Saudi Arabia and contribute to Vision 2030 goals. The deal will positively impact tourism, entertainment, international sports events, conferences, and Hajj and Umrah sectors.
The agreement aims to establish Saudia as a comprehensive aviation system that enhances local content and manufacturing capabilities. It will enable Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) to conduct all types of maintenance. Additionally, Saudia Academy will train personnel to operate aircraft according to international standards.
This significant deal boosts local content by strengthening manufacturing capabilities and creating diverse opportunities for entrepreneurship in Saudi Arabia. It directly contributes to sustainable economic growth by fostering innovation across various aviation industry sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The initiative also facilitates participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in Airbus' supply chain. These enterprises will be enabled and qualified for involvement in the industry. Introducing a large number of aircraft into the operational system will help current supporting companies expand their businesses and create new companies.
Maintenance and Training
SAEI will become an authorized center for maintaining these types of Airbus aircraft in Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, and North Africa. The Saudia Academy will play a crucial role in qualifying competencies according to industry standards to operate and manage flights for this number of aircraft.
The Airbus plant in Hamburg is one of the largest aircraft manufacturing facilities worldwide. It includes various company sites such as a spare-parts center, design offices, production sites, a final assembly line, and a training center.
Global Impact
The deal enhances economic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and European countries producing Airbus planes. It paves the way for new opportunities in economic collaboration. The agreement contributes to economic growth in these countries through increased investments and job creation.
This partnership embodies a shared vision among partner countries to enhance cooperation across various fields. It builds bridges of friendship and mutual respect while contributing significantly to both regional and global aviation sectors.
The Saudia Group is achieving its ambitious goals through this Airbus deal by connecting the world to Saudi Arabia. This agreement solidifies Saudi aviation's leading position regionally and globally.
