Malabar Group Enhances 'Hunger-Free World' Program, Aims For Broader Impact

The Malabar Group, renowned for its commitment to social welfare, is taking a significant step forward with the expansion of its 'Hunger-Free World' program. Aimed at combating hunger and supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 2 - Zero Hunger, the initiative is set to increase its reach, escalating the distribution of nutritious food packets from 31,000 to 51,000 daily.

The announcement came during the World Hunger Day observance on May 28th, at the Malabar Group Headquarters in Kerala, India, with Goa's Honourable Governor, P S Sreedharan Pillai, leading the commencement. The event saw the presence of notable figures, including Malabar Group Chairman M P Ahammed, who emphasized the dire need to assist those struggling for a daily meal.

Expanding Hunger-Free World Initiative

Currently active in 37 cities across 16 states and territories, including areas in the Gulf countries, the program is poised to expand its operations to 70 cities. In an ambitious move, the initiative will also reach school children in Zambia, a nation significant for its gold mining but also facing challenges in nutrition and hunger.

Malabar Group has taken a holistic approach to tackle hunger, from setting up modern kitchens for food preparation by skilled chefs to assessing the root social and economic causes through volunteer surveys. The establishment of 'Grandma Homes' offers a haven for neglected and orphaned elderly women, providing them with food, shelter, and healthcare. With plans to extend these homes to additional cities, the initiative ensures a life of dignity for many.

The Hunger-Free World initiative is part of the Malabar Group's extensive involvement in social welfare and charitable activities. From medical and educational assistance to housing support, the Group dedicates five percent of its profits to ESG activities in every operational region. With over 29 Million USD already allocated towards social welfare schemes, the Group's efforts reflect a deep-rooted commitment to societal betterment.

Through the expansion of the Hunger-Free World program and other philanthropic ventures, the Malabar Group not only aims to alleviate immediate hunger but also addresses the underlying issues contributing to it. This comprehensive approach underscores the organization's dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, both locally and globally.
