Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi Unveils Exciting Expansion With New Attractions And Enhanced Capacity
Miral has revealed that over half of the work on the Yas Waterworld expansion on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi is done. The, which spans 16,900 square meters, is set to enhance the park's offerings significantly by 2025. This upgrade is noteworthy, as it will boost the park's capacity by 20% and introduce 18 new rides and attractions, along with 3.3km of thrilling slide sections. This will increase the total number of rides and experiences at the park to over 70, including the UAE's tallest slide and a pioneering water-based amusement ride within a waterslide complex, featuring a remarkable 15-meter drop for up to 20 guests at once.
Jonathan Brown, Miral's Chief Portfolio Officer, emphasized the significance of this development, stating, "This expansion, building on Yas Waterworld's popularity with both local and international visitors over the past decade, reaffirms our commitment to constantly elevating Yas Island's position as a leading global destination for entertainment and leisure. We are thrilled to be providing our guests from around the world an enriched and exciting new experience." This statement underlines Miral's dedication to enhancing Yas Island's appeal as a premier destination for tourists seeking entertainment and leisure activities.
The expansion's construction progress includes the laying of over 10,662 cubic meters of concrete, fulfilling over 67% of the total concrete needed for the project. Additionally, 25% of the steel columns have been installed, marking significant construction milestones towards the project's completion. The new additions to Yas Waterworld will not only feature thrilling slides and water rides like The Legend of the Lost Village, a continuation of the park's pearl-diving heritage narrative, but also eight new pools, and a variety of new food and beverage outlets. The park's expansion will cater to all ages, offering younger guests the chance to enjoy Dawwama Junior and Sebag, which are smaller versions of the park's iconic rides.
Since its inauguration in 2013, Yas Waterworld has garnered over 65 industry awards and accolades, showcasing its excellence and popularity among visitors. Notably, the park achieved a Guinness World Records title for the World's Largest Swimming Lesson. In 2023, it received the Gold Award for Innovation in Entertainment Events from MENA Stevie Awards, the Best of the Best Things to Do award from TripAdvisor, and was named the Middle East's Leading Water Park by the World Travel Awards 2024. These awards attest to Yas Waterworld's status as a leading water park in the region.
