This Latest Jeddah Diving Course Will Help You Swim Like A Mermaid!
Have you ever wanted to become a mermaid? Do you find yourself fascinated by the deep seas and the mysteries it holds? Inspired by mythical sea creatures, a diving centre in Jeddah is offering a unique mermaid diving course. This summer activity allows participants to enjoy the cool waters while learning new skills.
Scuba Schools International at Al-Haddad Scuba in offers such an experience for those in search of an aquatic adventure. Corinna Davids, an Austrian scuba diving and swimming instructor, developed the SSI Mermaid Program. She has revolutionised the diving industry with her innovative techniques and passion for the sea.
Mermaid Diving Course
The course includes extensive theory sessions, in-water training, and evaluations of teaching abilities. In April, Davids held the first mermaid diving course for instructors in Saudi Arabia.
Davids explained that mermaid diving combines the dolphin kick technique with an exaggerated movement. This style ensures both beauty and efficiency while maintaining safety protocols.

"By mastering various fun skills and tricks, SSI mermaids can perform beautifully while maintaining safety protocols," she told Arab News.
Equipment and Training
The mermaid experience requires high-quality monofins like the Mahina Monofin for efficiency and aesthetic appeal. The tail skin, made from Lycra or scuba fabric, completes the look and boosts confidence.
Saudi model Wafaa Al-Masry described the course as "a fun and unique experience." She found it enjoyable with proper training and guidance from her coach.
"It was a fun and unique experience. Initially, I thought it would be difficult, but with the training and the coach's guidance, I found it easy and enjoyable," Al-Masry said.
Vision 2030 Initiative
Initiatives like Vision 2030 aim to diversify Saudi Arabia's economy by promoting tourism through new recreational activities such as mermaid diving. This initiative has received positive responses from trainees who showed significant improvement throughout the program.
"The primary aim of conducting this course in Saudi Arabia was to introduce a new, fun program that would appeal to kids and adults alike," Davids said. "Mermaid diving offers an exciting experience for those who may be hesitant to try scuba diving or freediving."
Community Engagement
Ali Ayoub from Al-Haddad Scuba highlighted that mermaid divers can participate in educational programs for schools and community groups. They can share information about marine ecosystems and how individuals can help protect them.
"They can share information about marine ecosystems, the threats they face, and how individuals can help. Their captivating presence can make learning about these issues more engaging and memorable," Ayoub said.
Diverse Participants
The course attracted four participants from diverse backgrounds: a swimming instructor and lifeguard, two scuba instructors (one of whom is a doctor), and a free-diving instructor who is also an air traffic controller.
Ayoub advised aspiring mermaids to practice swimming regularly and work on breath-holding techniques. He also recommended taking free-diving courses to improve underwater endurance.
A Growing Trend
Having trained over 3,000 divers in five years, Al-Haddad Scuba offers activities like snorkeling, deep diving, and night diving. These activities provide immersive experiences of the vibrant underwater world alongside fellow ocean enthusiasts.
Davids has written a comprehensive guide for those interested in discovering mermaid diving in Saudi Arabia. The guide provides essential information for new mermaids to stay safe, make informed decisions, and choose the right equipment.
