UAE Residents Show Strong Support For Proactive, Tech-Driven, And Sustainable Healthcare Innovations
Recent findings from Philips have placed the UAE at the forefront in terms of health consciousness and readiness for the future within the region. This study into the attitudes of UAE residents has unveiled a strong inclination towards adopting proactive health measures, utilising technology in healthcare, and supporting environmentally sustainable practices.
A significant 92% of individuals surveyed emphasised the importance of actively managing their health and well-being, showcasing a commitment to personal health responsibility.
The Philips Health Trends Research UAE, now in its second edition and conducted by Censuswide, delves into the evolving perceptions surrounding health among UAE residents.
The study identifies a trio of pivotal shifts: the prioritisation of proactive health choices and digital health tools, a growing trust in artificial intelligence (AI) for improving healthcare delivery, and a heightened demand for sustainability within the health sector.

A standout revelation from the study is the community's trust in digital innovations and artificial intelligence, with 77% of respondents confident in AI's capacity to boost diagnosis, treatment, and operational efficiencies in healthcare.
This trust extends to online health services, with a vast majority (93%) recognizing the advantages of telehealth and e-health solutions. These benefits include the ease of remote consultations and the ability to access specialists from any location, indicating a broad adoption of virtual care.
Sustainability Gains Importance in Healthcare Choices
Sustainability concerns are increasingly influencing healthcare decisions among residents, with 83% more inclined to opt for providers that prioritize eco-friendly practices. A notable 86% of those surveyed believe that sustainability should be a central focus for the healthcare industry, reflecting a society that values environmental stewardship alongside health and wellness.
Tamer Said, general manager for health systems at Philips West Africa, Gulf and Levant, commented on the findings, stating, "This study provides important insights into how UAE residents are reshaping their healthcare journeys. Improved access to information and increased awareness are empowering people to take greater control of their health and well-being.
"At the same time, growing confidence in telehealth and digital health solutions reflects a strong willingness to embrace innovation that makes care more convenient and accessible. Equally significant is the rising emphasis on sustainability, with patients actively seeking providers who operate responsibly and align with their personal values. This research helps us deepen our understanding of these preferences and contributes to shaping a future-ready, patient-centric healthcare system for the UAE."
The research not only highlights a shift towards digital health solutions but also indicates a robust health and wellness culture within the UAE. Over half of the residents rate their health as very good, mirroring the country's commitment to fostering a healthy lifestyle. With digital health becoming more mainstream, the majority of UAE residents show a positive attitude towards telehealth and e-health, citing benefits such as quicker access to specialists and time savings.
Embracing Digital Health and AI in Healthcare
Digitalisation in healthcare is welcomed by 84% of respondents, with a significant proportion viewing artificial intelligence as beneficial across various aspects of healthcare. From diagnostics to patient monitoring, the acceptance of AI underscores a shift towards more technologically advanced healthcare solutions.
However, concerns regarding data security and the potential financial implications of system outages highlight the need for careful consideration in the implementation of these technologies.
As the UAE population becomes more empowered and informed, there is a discernible demand for healthcare providers to meet higher standards of care, transparency, and commitment to environmental protection.
This shift mirrors the changes observed since the initial edition of the Philips Health Trends Research, indicating a population that is not only adopting digital tools for health management but also advocating for a healthcare system that aligns with their values of sustainability and innovation.
