UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka Concludes Six-Month Journey with Heartfelt Celebration
The UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka celebrated the end of its journey, drawing the curtain on an eventful six months with a heartfelt Closing Celebration. This celebration paid tribute to its staff, partners, and the more than five million visitors who walked through its doors since its opening on April 13, 2025.
This figure not only includes 4,930,645 guests who visited in person but also 113,443 who engaged with the pavilion online and an additional 17,000 who experienced the Expo virtually. Such impressive numbers underscore the pavilion's broad appeal, attracting interest from both local Japanese audiences and international visitors alike.

During the Pavilion's final celebration, a mix of Pavilion staff, Emirati and Japanese Youth Ambassadors, along with the Pavilion's four Official Partners (ADNOC, PureHealth, Space42, and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi), gathered to reflect on their collective journey.
The event featured heartfelt remarks from Youth Ambassadors and Pavilion leaders, a shared reflection on the Pavilion's journey, and a poignant moment of letter reading, where gratitude was expressed to the entire team.
His Excellency Shihab Alfaheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion, shared his reflections on the Pavilion's impact: "Our Pavilion was not just an exhibition space but a living encounter between cultures and ideas. The warmth of our Youth Ambassadors carried it, the commitment of our staff, and the support of our partners. To every visitor who joined us, thank you for being part of this journey. The spirit of connection and dialogue we have experienced here will guide us well beyond Osaka, as we continue working towards a future where all life can thrive."
The UAE Pavilion, located in the Empowering Lives Zone near the Japan Pavilion, played a crucial role in Expo 2025 Osaka's overarching theme, "Designing Future Society for Our Lives." The Expo, which saw participation from over 150 countries, organisations, and companies, aimed to foster discussions on creating sustainable and human-centred futures.
Within this global dialogue, the UAE Pavilion stood as a testament to how tradition can meet innovation to encourage mutual progress and find solutions for a better tomorrow.
The Pavilion was celebrated for bringing the theme "Earth to Ether" to life through its architecture and interactive experiences, drawing inspiration from the date palm tree. It showcased the UAE's advancements in space exploration, healthcare, sustainable technologies, and living culture, illustrating how the nation's heritage fuels its pursuit of progress.
Additionally, the Pavilion was honoured with the Bronze Award for Architecture and Landscape in the Self-Built Pavilions – Type A category by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), a recognition that highlights its exceptional design and contribution to the Expo's vision.
Throughout its six-month tenure, the Pavilion hosted a variety of events, including forums, cultural showcases, and youth-led initiatives, attracting dignitaries and delegations from around the world.

A standout event was UAE Day at Expo 2025 Osaka on September 19, which saw His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in attendance, further cementing the Pavilion's place as a focal point for cultural exchange and dialogue.
As the UAE Pavilion closes its doors, its legacy endures, marking another chapter in the UAE's long history with World Expos. From its first participation in Expo '70 Osaka, through the landmark hosting of Expo 2020 Dubai, and now with its return to Osaka in 2025, the UAE continues to view these Expos as vital platforms for fostering collaboration and shared advancement.
In the spirit of "Earth to Ether," the Pavilion's closure symbolises not an end but a continuation of its journey towards fostering connections and building a sustainable future.
