UAE’s Chef Sameera Triumphs With 4 Gold Medals At IKA Culinary Olympics

UAE-based Mister Baker's Chef Sameera Madushanka Dahanayaka has made the nation proud by clinching gold medals at the 26th IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany. Competing against a vast pool of international talent, Chef Sameera's remarkable achievements in both Pastry Art and Culinary Art categories have spotlighted his exceptional skills and dedication to the culinary arts.

The IKA Culinary Olympics, known for its rigorous competition, saw participation from 1,500 chefs across 70 national teams. These participants were judged by over 60 international experts, including culinary luminaries such as Jerard Mendis and Uwe Micheel. Chef Sameera, representing the UAE National Team, stood out by securing two gold medals each in the D1-2 Salt Carving and D2-2 Sugar Carving categories.

Underlining the UAE National Team's outstanding performance, the team, comprising 23 chefs, amassed a total of 27 silver medals. This notable achievement underscores the team's culinary excellence and mastery.

Chef Sameera's journey to international recognition began in 2015 in Sri Lanka, where his passion and talent for pastry art first emerged. Over the years, his dedication and creativity have propelled him to the forefront of the culinary scene. In 2023, Chef Sameera's exceptional talent was further acknowledged when he secured five gold medals and one silver at the Gulf Food Competition, earning him a spot to represent the UAE at the 2024 IKA Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany.

Reflecting on his preparation for the competition, Chef Sameera shared his rigorous schedule, balancing customer orders and competition demands. "This is my first time participating in the IKA Culinary Olympic 2024 in Germany. I completed these four cake masterpieces in 4 to 5 months," Chef Sameera said, highlighting the challenges and his commitment to excellence.
