Sphere: Latest Immersive Entertainment Venue Coming Up In Abu Dhabi

Sphere Entertainment, in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu), has announced plans for the construction of the world's second Sphere venue in the UAE capital. This venture a significant step in expanding Sphere Entertainment's global presence and enhancing Abu Dhabi's cultural and entertainment landscape.

The Sphere, a next-generation entertainment medium that debuted in Las Vegas in September 2023, has gained international recognition for its innovative approach to live entertainment, blending advanced technology with immersive storytelling.

A Landmark Collaboration

The Sphere in Abu Dhabi is expected to mirror the success of its Las Vegas counterpart, offering a 20,000-capacity venue that stands to revolutionize the region's entertainment scene. This venue aims to attract a global audience, offering a diverse array of events, concerts, and shows in an innovative setting.

The collaboration between Sphere Entertainment and DCT Abu Dhabi signifies a mutual commitment to driving cultural and tourism growth in Abu Dhabi, which welcomed over 24 million visitors in 2023. The partnership involves DCT Abu Dhabi paying an initiation fee to Sphere Entertainment for the rights to construct the venue using Sphere's proprietary designs and technology.

Construction of the Sphere in Abu Dhabi will be financed by DCT Abu Dhabi, with Sphere Entertainment providing development, construction, and pre-opening services. Following the venue's launch, Sphere Entertainment is set to continue its involvement through ongoing arrangements with DCT Abu Dhabi.

These arrangements include annual fees for creative and artistic content, as well as operational, commercial, and strategic support services. This collaborative model aims to leverage Sphere Entertainment's expertise and original content for the benefit of Abu Dhabi's cultural and tourism sectors.
