SIBF 2024 Scheduled For 6-17 November With Morocco As Guest Of Honour
The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has announced the dates for the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2024). The event will take place from 6th to 17th November, themed 'It Starts with a Book’. This gathering will bring together local, Arab, and international publishers, along with renowned authors and intellectuals. They will discuss important literary and cultural topics, sharing their knowledge with a global audience.
This year's fair will honour Morocco as the Guest of Honour, highlighting its rich cultural heritage through a curated programme. Attendees can enjoy workshops, book signings, and artistic performances that connect them with Moroccan literature. The event will also feature roaming shows showcasing Morocco's cultural diversity and forums for insightful discussions.

The theme 'It Starts with a Book' reflects Sharjah’s strong belief in reading as essential for societal progress. It highlights that every learning journey begins with a book, which serves as a gateway to endless knowledge. Books are seen as vital tools for shaping the future, inviting everyone to embrace reading as a lifelong pursuit.
Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SBA, stated, "In an increasingly interconnected world, the role of books in bridging cultures and fostering understanding is more vital than ever. SIBF stands as a testament to this mission, uniting thousands of writers, intellectuals, and artists from around the globe in Sharjah. It serves as a powerful reminder that the foundations of every great civilisation are laid with books, and the values that shape nations are deeply rooted in literature."
Over four decades, SIBF has become influential in global knowledge and creative industries. The focus extends beyond just numbers of publishers to the impact of their presence on local and global economies. Participants are encouraged to use this platform to build partnerships and explore collaborative opportunities at the fair.
Spotlighting Emirati Culture
Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of SBA, mentioned that under H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi's vision, the fair has evolved into a comprehensive platform for a knowledge-based society. It brings together readers and creators to explore trends and exchange ideas. This aligns with SBA’s mission to highlight Emirati culture under Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi’s leadership.
Morocco's celebration as Guest of Honour at SIBF offers an opportunity to showcase its cultural heritage and contributions globally. The programme includes publications reflecting Morocco's cultural legacy. Prominent Moroccan figures will lead discussions to foster cultural exchange while artistic performances highlight Morocco’s diverse expressions.
The upcoming Sharjah International Book Fair promises an enriching experience by celebrating literature's power in connecting cultures and promoting understanding worldwide.
