Royal Opera House Muscat To Host Enriching 2024 Ramadan Concert Series

In the bustling city of Muscat, the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is ready to light up Ramadan with a concert series that promises an extraordinary musical journey. This year, the series is dedicated to performances that embody the values of peace, devotion, and cultural harmony that are central to Ramadan. The ROHM opens its doors for audiences to experience a spiritual and musical odyssey through Sufi, Nasheed, and chanting, featuring renowned artists and ensembles from across the globe.

The concert series will kick off on March 18 with the enchanting sounds of the Ibn Arabi Ensemble from Morocco, which is collaborating with the Al Zawya Ensemble of Oman. Known for their mastery in Sufi instrumental and chanting, the Ibn Arabi Ensemble seeks to bring to life the revered Sufi poems of notable figures such as Ibn Arabi, Ibn Al Farid, and Rabi'a Al Adawiya, among others. This inaugural performance is set to be an evening of evocative melodies and deep lyrical significance.

A Representation of Cultural Harmony

The musical journey will proceed on March 25 with a performance by the Mawlawiyyin and Levantine Religious Chants Group from Syria. This ensemble, consisting of a quartet of vocalists, instrumentalists, and a choir, excels in leading the audience in praise through their music. The event will be further enhanced by the participation of Khalid Al Araimi, Oman’s beloved chant performer, who will join the group on stage, presenting a beautiful fusion of diverse cultures and traditions.

A Night with Ali El Helbawy: A Legacy of Devotion

The series will reach its climax on April 1 with a performance by the Egyptian artist Ali El Helbawy. Following in the influential footsteps of his father, Mohammed El Helbawy, Ali has established his own niche in the realm of religious chanting. Alongside his ensemble and a choir, he will offer an evening rich with prayerful Nasheeds, Sufi, and religious chants, marking a closing night of introspection and spiritual depth.

Forging International Cultural Partnerships

By showcasing a blend of internationally acclaimed artists and ensembles alongside Omani talent, the ROHM not only presents a rich array of global musical traditions but also promotes genuine international partnerships through the universal language of culture and music. Each concert, set to start at 9:30 pm at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts, demonstrates the opera house’s dedication to enriching Oman’s cultural scene and providing memorable Ramadan nights.

With the holy month of Ramadan drawing near, the ROHM extends an invitation to secure your seats for these special evenings. Immerse yourself in the harmony, devotion, and cultural exchange that music uniquely facilitates, in a setting that honours the spirit of Ramadan with utmost tranquility and respect.
