Review: Roberto's, A Premier Italian Dining Experience In Dubai
In a city where fine dining establishments rise as fast as its skyscrapers, Roberto's has held its ground as a staple of Italian sophistication. Situated in the heart of the Dubai International Financial Centre, Roberto's blends the cosmopolitan energy of its location with a dining experience that feels both luxurious and personal. This homegrown concept has grown over a decade in Dubai into an international franchise, with its laurels intact as a leader in the fine dining Italian segment.
But does Roberto's really live up to this promise of great food and atmosphere? Well, here's the skinny after an evening steeped in its renown.

Ambiance
Before stepping into Roberto's, the view of the Burj Khalifa immediately sets the tone: elegant, iconic, and timeless. Inside, the atmosphere is finely poised between understated luxury and vibrant energy. Dimmed, ambient lighting pairs with grandiose décor, while the murmur of patrons over their meals adds to the allure.
The layout is flexible to please everyone's taste: an indoor dining area for those who want it quiet, a buzzy lounge to mingle, and a terrace with unrivaled views of Downtown Dubai. On cooler evenings, the Cortina terrace turns into the hot spot, its al fresco setting making it perfect for intimate conversations or celebrations.
The Culinary Experience
Appetizers That Set the Stage: The evening started with a few hors d'oeuvres that were only as brilliant in their appearance as they were in flavor. Among the standouts: Panino al vapore e caviale, a delicate steamed bun oozing oscietra caviar and sour cream; and Riso croccante al curry, a puffed curry rice creation dusted with fennel seed powder. It was an elegant teaser of how much thought goes into every creation.
Seafood Done Right: This devotion to seafood is shown in dishes like the Polpo: a slow-cooked roasted octopus with artichoke and cacio e pepe sauce. If this dish was historic for being one of the first matches between Chef Francesco Guarracino and Michelin-starred Chef Enrico Bartolini, it was also a masterclass in texture and flavor-married tender octopus with a creamy sauce showcasing the finesse of the chefs.
The Pasta Affair: It wouldn't be an Italian feast without pasta, and Roberto's delivered with two standout creations. The Raviolone, stuffed with burrata and pappa al pomodoro, felt like a love letter to Italian tradition, while the Risotto alla barbabietola, a beetroot risotto with gorgonzola and walnut sauce, impressed with its striking presentation and bold flavors.
Mains That Steal the Show: For the main course, Branzino, a grilled wild sea bass with kale and verjus sauce, stole the show. The fish was perfectly cooked, flaking with ease and retaining its delicate flavor, enhanced by the richness of the sauce. Roberto's commitment to quality sourcing-fishing from the Canary Islands and South of Spain and delivering within 48 hours-really shines in every bite.
Sweet Endings
Desserts, on the other hand, were ambitious but needed refining. The Ciocco colato, a dark chocolate mousse with hazelnut ice cream inside, was charmingly light yet so full-bodied. The Curry Madras Marshmallow, however, did not work-it felt out of step with the otherwise Italian-centric identity of the restaurant. Fortunately, the Gelato verde oro, or pistachio ice cream drizzled with high-end olive oil, was a redeeming close to the meal with class.
Service
Roberto's prides itself on attentive service, and it's evident from the moment you're greeted at the door. However, there's a fine line between attentiveness and overbearing eagerness. While service was prompt and well-meaning, a slightly less hurried pace between courses would enhance the dining experience.
Roberto's is not just a restaurant, it's a way of life. The immaculate ambiance, well-thought-out menu, and quality ingredients all make it a fine dining experience perfect for any special occasion, a dinner business meeting, or romantic evening out. That said, a bit of menu refinement-especially with desserts-could elevate it to the level of its DIFC neighbor, La Petite Maison.
For those who value fine dining with a view, Roberto's is a must-visit. Its iconic location, paired with its ability to evolve while staying rooted in Italian tradition, ensures it remains a favorite in Dubai's ever-competitive culinary scene.
