Qatar To Honor Global Wellness Day 2024 On June 8

Qatar, along with over 100 countries worldwide, is gearing up to celebrate Global Wellness Day on June 8. This annual event, observed on the second Saturday of June, encourages individuals to take a step back from their fast-paced lives to focus on their well-being, aiming to reduce stress, appreciate life more deeply, and embrace inner peace.

The significance of Global Wellness Day extends beyond its 24-hour timeframe, with Qatar's Global Wellness Day Ambassador, Asela Jayaweera, sharing with Doha News the transformative potential of this observance. Jayaweera emphasizes that embracing the day's principles positively can significantly impact one's life journey, underlining the importance of starting small to achieve lasting well-being.

This year's theme, 'Magenta Nature,' highlights the connection between well-being and our relationship with the environment. A comprehensive four-part plan has been unveiled to guide participants towards achieving sustainable wellness through nature-centric activities.

Part of the initiative includes embracing 'eating natural' foods, with several stakeholders across Doha scheduled to conduct workshops on this theme. Notably, Sharq Village and Spa will offer a cooking workshop, while Le Meridien plans to share nutritious smoothie recipes. Jayaweera points out the importance of diet not only for physical health but for mental well-being as well, advocating for communal meals as a means to enhance personal connections and overall happiness.

Engagement with Nature

The action plan also encourages individuals to 'be in nature,' advocating for regular engagement with the natural world as a daily practice. Jayaweera's enthusiasm for the outdoors extends to unique experiences, such as partnering with the Doha Dragon Boat society for outdoor activities, emphasizing that nature's wonders are not limited to terrestrial environments but extend underwater as well.
