Pinktober In The UAE: A Month Of Unity And Awareness For Breast Cancer

October in the UAE transforms into Pinktober, a vibrant and heartfelt month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, celebrating survivors, and supporting those on their healing journey.

Across the nation, from Dubai’s bustling cityscape to Abu Dhabi’s serene waterfronts, communities, businesses, and organisations unite to promote early detection, fund critical research, and foster solidarity.

This year’s initiatives, ranging from innovative culinary experiences to wellness activations and free health screenings, reflect the UAE’s commitment to compassion, community, and collective action.

A Culinary Canvas for Connection

Hospitality leaders across the UAE are turning dining into a platform for awareness.

At IHG Hotels at Dubai Festival City, pink-inspired culinary creations take center stage. Belgian Café at Crowne Plaza hosts Pink Code evenings every Tuesday, offering unlimited pink beverages and discounted food to spark meaningful conversations.

Vista Restaurant at InterContinental serves the Blush of Bravery, a lychee-citrus cocktail that symbolizes resilience, while CHOIX by Pierre Gagnaire presents elegant pink desserts, including the Trio in Pink macarons and St Honoré Rose.

Similarly, Mina Seyahi’s trio of resorts—W Dubai, The Westin, and Le Méridien—offers six unique Pinktober dining activations. From the Bubbalicious Brunch with its pink-themed buffet to Bussola Pizzeria’s La Rosa pizza on beetroot-infused dough, each experience donates a portion of proceeds to Al Jalila Foundation, supporting breast cancer research and treatment. Conservatory and Bounty Beets further elevate the cause with pink-inspired afternoon teas, blending indulgence with purpose.

Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates continues its partnership with Al Jalila Foundation, hosting a Pink Afternoon Tea at Aspen Café. With savory delights like beetroot salmon and sweet treats like raspberry pavlova, 10% of each set’s proceeds directly funds life-saving initiatives.

Wellness Activities

Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah joins the Pinktober movement with a series of wellness and lifestyle activations, each designed to blend self-care with meaningful contributions to Al Jalila Foundation.

At Saray Spa, the Pink Serenity Ritual offers a restorative experience, beginning with a rose-infused aromatherapy welcome, followed by a full-body massage using a Balance Oil Blend of rose, geranium, and clary sage. Warm Himalayan Pink Salt Stones and rose quartz crystals placed on the heart chakra enhance emotional harmony, concluding with raspberry and rose tea paired with Breast Cancer Awareness-themed cookies.

Available in 60-minute (AED 399, AED 50 donated) and 90-minute (AED 499, AED 100 donated) sessions throughout October from 10 AM to 10 PM, this ritual nurtures both body and soul. Additionally, energizing seaside and sunset Pilates sessions with The Big Beauty Scoop invite guests to recharge while supporting breast cancer awareness.

Empowering Through Early Detection

Early detection remains a cornerstone of breast cancer prevention, and the UAE’s initiatives this Pinktober make screenings accessible to all. The Pink Caravan, a flagship program under Friends of Cancer Patients’ Kashf initiative, brings its mobile clinic to Yas Bay Waterfront on October 5 and Yas Marina on October 6.

Offering free clinical breast screenings for adults aged 20 and above and mammograms for those 40 and older, these clinics emphasize the life-saving power of early detection. With breast cancer accounting for 15-16% of new cancer cases in women globally and rare but significant cases in men, these screenings are vital for all.

Arabian Center in Dubai takes this mission further with its Together Let’s Empower campaign. On October 26, the Pink Caravan Mobile Medical Clinic will provide free mammograms and clinical examinations.

Throughout the month, partnerships with Health Hub and Dubai Health Authority offer complimentary check-up vouchers and expert guidance, reinforcing the importance of proactive health management.

Compassion in Action

Beyond screenings and dining, Pinktober in the UAE is about tangible support for those affected. Rove Hotels exemplifies this through a heartfelt initiative, repurposing over 500 discarded pillowcases into underarm comfort pillows for breast cancer patients recovering from surgery.

In collaboration with the Sew Bee-Cause Community, Dr. Annett Al Hamadi, and Stephanie Neuhold—a breast cancer thriver and Rove Dubai Marina’s Hotel Manager—this project aligns with the UAE’s Year of Community. Most pillows will be donated to Al Jalila Foundation, with others distributed across the UAE, offering comfort and hope.

A Collective Call to Action

Breast cancer remains a global challenge, with 2.3 million new diagnoses annually in women and 20,000 in men. The UAE’s Pinktober initiatives remind us that awareness, early detection, and community solidarity can make a difference. From savoring a pink cocktail to attending a free screening or indulging in a wellness ritual, every action counts.
