People Of Determination Lead UAE First Anti Plastic Awareness Film

The Monk, a chain of restaurants in Dubai, has released a public awareness film backing the Dubai Government’s plastic ban directive, led entirely by People of Determination. The initiative, described as the first of its kind in the UAE, anchors SHARE TO CARE, The Monk’s sustainability-focused community movement.

The film, titled “Raising Awareness with Rising Spirits,” is written and directed by filmmaker Binesh Babu Panicker. It positions People of Determination at the forefront of environmental advocacy, combining messages on plastic reduction with a visible commitment to inclusion and community involvement across The Monk’s outlets in Dubai.

“This film proves that when the most inspiring voices lead the message, society listens. Our cast of People of Determination didn't just participate—they guided the narrative. It is a true embodiment of Reverse Inclusion, where they show us how to care for the planet and for one another," said Director & Writer Binesh Babu Panicker.

The Monk’s Operations Manager, Gene Bacolod, said the project reflects the brand’s alignment with the government’s directive on plastics. Across all its outlets, the restaurant chain has removed plastic carry bags and cutlery, introducing recyclable alternatives while asking its customers to engage with the sustainability message led by People of Determination.

The production credits list Director & Writer Binesh Babu Panicker, Associate Director Seebha Binesh, and DOP & Editor Abu Jiyadh of JAK Production, supported by Production Coordinator Neena Raina. Camera assistants are named as Akber Hamsa and Javad Amayur, underlining a compact, locally based production team.

People of Determination featured in the cast include Varun Raina, Anushka Tandon, Raihan Mohammed Aslam, and Johanna Jerry. Other artists named are Lianda Leach and Pooja Bakyod. The film is presented as a core element of The Monk’s SHARE TO CARE initiative on sustainability and inclusion in Dubai.
