Ramadan In Qatar: Old Doha Port Set To Transform With Cultural Festivities And Heritage Highlights
Old Doha Port is set to become a hub of cultural and traditional celebrations this Ramadan, as it unveils a series of events designed to highlight Qatar's rich heritage. Among the festivities is the first-ever Meal Festival, aiming to take visitors on a culinary journey through some of Qatar's most established eateries, enhancing the Iftar and Suhoor experiences with a variety of entertainments.
In a gesture that pays homage to tradition, the port will witness the return of the Musaher Al-Mina drummers. This group will roam the Mina District daily, playing their drums to announce the time for Suhoor, reinstating a practice deeply rooted in the local culture.
Mohammed Abdulla Al-Mulla, executive director of Old Doha Port, said: "We are committed to providing a platform that not only reflects Qatar's hospitality, cultural heritage, and rich maritime tradition, but also supports various maritime and tourist sectors and water sports," Al-Mulla stated, as reported by Qatar News Agency.
Celebrating Culture and Tradition
Apart from the inaugural Meal Festival and the Musaher Al-Mina drummers, the Ramadan festivities at Old Doha Port will feature traditional musical ensembles and itinerant dancers. Visitors can expect a rich tapestry of performances including acrobatics, theater plays, and interactive activities like balloons, bubbles, science demonstrations, and caricature drawing. Additionally, workshops will be available, focusing on the art of creating coloured sand bottles, among other activities designed to engage and educate attendees on Qatar's cultural practices.
