On July 2, Michel & Amazonka showcased Mongolia's uniforms for the opening and closing ceremonies. This marks their third year as the official Olympic designers for Mongolia. The designs feature traditional elements and intricate details.
Mongolia's Cultural Heritage in Uniforms
Models Solongo-Uyanga and Kio displayed the female athletes' attire: long white pleated skirts, cream-colored pointed-toe flats, a white deel with a black collar, and an embroidered vest. They will also wear red drop-down earrings and a black coin purse with detailed stitching.
Male athletes will sport ivory trousers paired with a blue, red, and gold-hued deel. Each piece of clothing includes embroidered symbols like the moon, sun, and Gua-Maral (a mythical deer from folklore), paying homage to Mongolia's cultural heritage.
Design Process and Craftsmanship
Michel & Amazonka, led by Michel Choigaalaa and Amazonka Choigaalaa, revealed that creating each uniform took over 20 hours. In a Facebook post on July 8, they mentioned that each garment was tailored to fit the exact measurements of the athlete it was made for. The entire collection took three months to complete.
The intricate craftsmanship has mesmerized Instagram and TikTok users. Many flooded the comments on Michel & Amazonka's posts to praise the brand's work.
Paris Prepares for the Olympics
