MoHAP, DHA Join Forces For IWBD's Roundtable On Gender Equality In Healthcare Leadership

The International Women Board of Directors (IWBD) recently held the HER Impact: Women Leadership in Healthcare Roundtable at Fakeeh University Hospital in Dubai. This significant event brought together prominent figures and industry leaders to promote women's leadership and shape the future of healthcare.

The roundtable featured distinguished speakers who led discussions on critical topics, such as neurodiversity in the workplace, challenges faced by the sandwich generation, and the importance of kindness in healthcare leadership.

Promoting Gender Equality in Healthcare

Dr. Hussain Abdulrahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector at MoHAP, highlighted the progress of women's leadership in the UAE. He stated that Emirati women have increasingly taken on leadership roles in healthcare, holding key positions in hospitals and healthcare organizations. Their contributions have been crucial in advancing the country's healthcare system and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Gender-balanced boardrooms

Dr. Ayesha Ahmad Saif AlTheeb from Dubai Health Authority emphasized the importance of a gender-balanced boardroom for generating innovation and accurately representing different perspectives. She noted that senior women in healthcare have a unique understanding of the industry's concerns and are crucial change agents during this transformational period.

Dr. Alya Zaid Harbi, Director of the Statistics and Research Centre at MoHAP, expressed her pleasure at being part of the roundtable event. She praised the nation's leadership for their unwavering support and progressive initiatives that have advanced women's leadership in the UAE.

Poonam Chawla, Founder and Managing Director of IWBD, stressed that regional disparities and under-representation of women in healthcare leadership are unacceptable. She believes that women's leadership is essential for achieving health and prosperity for all.

Dr. Mohaymen Abdelghany, CEO of Fakeeh University Hospital, shared his organization's commitment to gender equality as a strategic driver of innovation and growth. With 35% women on their board and 60% in their workforce, they aim to foster a culture of inclusivity for sustainable growth.
