Saudi Ministry Of Culture Introduces Six Research Grants To Enhance Cultural Studies In Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabia Ministry of Culture has introduced six research grants as part of its new Culture Research Grants Program. This initiative aims to boost scientific research in the cultural sector and enhance cultural knowledge. The grants align with priorities such as culture in context, cultural contact, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, quality of life, and cultural policies.

These grants are crafted to empower researchers and practitioners to contribute through high-quality studies. The goal is to enrich academic knowledge and support the cultural sector's growth. One grant focuses on anthropological studies of Arabian Peninsula culture, aiming to fill academic gaps and deepen understanding of cultural elements within social and economic contexts.

New Research Grants for Cultural Studies Launched

The Saudi Arabia from a Global Perspective Grant encourages exploration of connections between Saudi culture and global civilizations. It highlights the Kingdom’s historical contributions to cultural development. Meanwhile, the Children’s Culture Grant addresses research gaps in children's cultural production, promoting inclusive engagement across society.

Another grant targets intellectual property rights for artists and creators. It seeks to build an evidence base for policymakers to protect creative works while identifying innovative ways to safeguard these rights amid technological changes.

The Creative Economy Grant aligns with sustainability and quality of life priorities. It aims to expand knowledge on how the creative economy contributes to sustainable development. This grant encourages studies assessing economic challenges facing cultural institutions and supports sustainable business models for cultural industries.

The Culture and Sustainability Grant focuses on the intersection of culture with environmental, economic, and social sustainability. It evaluates environmental challenges' effects on the cultural sector and empowers practitioners to adopt sustainable practices.

The Ministry's announcement underscores its dedication to fostering scientific research, preserving heritage, enhancing cultural knowledge, and promoting innovation. This initiative is central to the Ministry’s broader strategy, strengthening ties between cultural production and scientific inquiry regionally and globally.

This programme aims to create a distinguished research environment that elevates the quality and impact of cultural studies. By doing so, it seeks to advance both regional and global understanding of culture's role in society.
