In a grand ceremony in Bengaluru, India, Maria Victoria Juan, a nurse and Colonel in the Reserve Force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, received the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award 2024, securing a prize of $250,000. Her role as a Consultant at Philippines Army Health Services has been highlighted through this prestigious recognition. The award, initiated in 2021, pays homage to the pivotal role nurses play in the healthcare sector, underscoring their dedication and contributions.

This year's competition saw an overwhelming response, with submissions from over 202 countries totaling more than 78,000 applications, a significant increase of 50% from the previous year. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health, extended his commendations to all finalists through a special message, lauding the efforts of Aster DM Healthcare for casting a spotlight on the indispensable role of nursing professionals.
