Malabar Group Broadens Efforts In 'Hunger-Free World' Programme To Combat Hunger
The 'Hunger-Free World' initiative, spearheaded by Malabar Group, is set to undergo a significant expansion, aiming to increase its daily distribution of nutritious meals to those in need. Currently, the program hands out 31,000 food packets daily, a figure that will soon rise to 51000. This move is in alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger and underscores Malabar Group commitment to social welfare.
The expansion inaugurated by P S Sreedharan Pillai, Honourable Governor of Goa, during the World Hunger Day observance on May 28th, at the Malabar Group Headquarters in Kerala, India. The event saw key figures such as M P Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group, and P T A Rahim, MLA, among others, who collectively pledged towards a hunger-free world.

Currently operational in 37 cities across 16 states and Union Territories, including a few centers in the Gulf countries, the program's reach will extend to 70 cities in 16 States. The initiative is also set to launch in Zambia, targeting school children in a nation known for its significant gold mining industry.
M P Ahammed highlighted the pressing need for such initiatives, emphasizing the struggle of many to secure even one square meal a day. The program aims to support governmental and agency efforts in eradicating hunger globally.
The 'Hunger-Free World' initiative ensures the preparation of nutritious meals in modern kitchens by skilled chefs, maintaining high standards of hygiene. Malabar Group volunteers actively identify and reach out to needy individuals in urban areas, delivering food packets directly to them. Furthermore, the initiative involves a comprehensive survey of beneficiaries to understand the social and economic factors contributing to hunger.
As part of its broader social welfare commitment, Malabar Group has introduced the 'Grandma Home' project, offering free food, accommodation, and healthcare to poor and orphaned elderly women. With two homes already operational in Bangalore and Hyderabad, plans are underway to establish more in cities including Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and selected areas in Kerala.
The initiative also encompasses a micro-learning program aimed at supporting the primary education of street children. Beyond 'Hunger-Free World', Malabar Group engages in various charitable activities, including financial aid for medical care, educational support to female students, and housing assistance. The Group dedicates five percent of its profits to ESG activities across its regions of operation, contributing over 29 Million USD to social welfare schemes to date.
Through these multifaceted efforts, Malabar Group continues to demonstrate its dedication to creating lasting social impact, striving towards the elimination of hunger and enhancing the quality of life for the underprivileged.
