Majid Al Futtaim Donates 12,000 Meals In Ramadan
Majid Al Futtaim has successfully garnered an impressive response to its innovative 'Feed the Future' programme during Ramadan, achieving significant milestones in the fight against food waste. In collaboration with 27 corporate partners, the initiative saw more than 12,000 meals donated over the Holy Month, demonstrating a robust commitment to enhancing food security across the Middle East, Africa, and.
The initiative, in partnership with Replate and including contributions from restaurant partners in Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls and other Majid Al Futtaim businesses like Carrefour, VOX Cinemas, and Crate and Barrel, aimed at managing surplus food effectively. The campaign witnessed the donation of 6,049 kg of food from F&B partners located in Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif and City Centre Al Zahia. This effort resulted in the conservation of 13,820,124 liters of water and the prevention of 12,399 kg of CO2 emissions.

Distribution efforts were coordinated with the UAE Food Bank, ensuring that the donated meals reached various charitable organizations, workers in communal housing, and families across the UAE. Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Managing Director, UAE Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, expressed gratitude towards the participating brands and program partners for their significant contributions and for promoting values of compassion and solidarity during Ramadan.
Sharaf also emphasized that the 'Feed the Future' initiative aligns with Majid Al Futtaim's environmental goals and its commitment to supporting the UAE's food security objectives. The company aims to become Net Positive by 2040, highlighting its dedication to making a positive impact on local communities and the environment.
The UAE Food Bank is dedicated to contributing to the circular economy goals of the UAE, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and food waste by 30% by 2027 and diverting surplus food from landfills.
Notable brands and F&B outlets participating in the 'Feed the Future' initiative included Carrefour, VOX Cinemas, and Crate and Barrel's Boon Coffee, along with hospitality giants such as Pullman Hotel and Sheraton Hotel.
The initiative also saw participation from retail and restaurant majors like AlShaya Group, Americana Brands, Gourmet Gulf, and Azadea. This collective effort underscored the community's united front in combating food waste and enhancing food distribution during the Holy Month.
