A Culinary Getaway: Dine with Dubai's Top Chef At JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa
Imagine you are on a holiday in Maldives and get to taste a gastronomic fare from a renowned chef from Dubai! This now is possible with a unique collaboration between JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa and Jun's Dubai. From November 17 to 19, 2024, the JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa is set to host a unique three-day culinary event, led by Chef Kelvin Cheung from Jun's Dubai. This bespoke experience draws on his acclaimed third-culture cuisine, which merges diverse global tastes with a focus on eco-conscious practices.
Chef Kelvin, recognized for his innovative culinary contributions and awarded titles including What's On Dubai's 2024 Chef of the Year, will bring his expertise to the resort, offering a series of curated meals that reflect both his and the resort's dedication to sustainable and mindful eating.

The event commences with an exclusive five-course dinner at Kaashi, where attendees will be treated to a fusion of Indian, Thai, and Chinese cuisines, showcasing dishes like Pani Puri, Tom Yum, and Char Siu Wagyu Short Rib. This dinner aims to celebrate Chef Kelvin's heritage and his ability to blend flavors from across the globe.
The following night, the culinary exploration continues at Hashi/Shio with another five-course menu that further exemplifies global culinary fusion and creativity. Chef Kelvin's commitment to sustainability and wellness echoes throughout these dining experiences, emphasizing locally sourced ingredients and zero-waste cooking methods.
"Food has always been about connection for me—whether bridging flavors, cultures, or people. I'm excited to bring my perspective on food and wellness to JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, where we'll explore flavors while focusing on sustainability and mindful eating," Chef Kelvin stated, highlighting the significance of this culinary venture.
An interactive zero-waste cooking class led by Chef Kelvin will mark the culmination of this gastronomic festivity. Set in Aailaa, the resort's day-round dining venue, this class will engage guests in preparing delectable dishes with minimal waste, utilizing fresh produce from the JW Garden. This initiative not only showcases innovative cooking techniques but also aligns with the resort's ethos of sustainability and wellness.
Mohit Dembla, the General Manager of JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "We are delighted to welcome Chef Kelvin Cheung to showcase his culinary artistry at our resort. His philosophy of blending diverse culinary traditions while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and wellness perfectly aligns with our vision for creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests."
