Celebrating International Yoga Day last weekend, the ICAI Dubai Chapter shed light on the transformative power of yoga in promoting health and well-being. The event underscored yoga's effectiveness in fostering self-discovery and holistic practices for a healthier lifestyle.

He advocated for active participation in yoga and proactive health monitoring, highlighting the inseparable link between wealth and well-being.

Surabhi Gandhi, renowned as India's yoga girl and a Chartered Accountant, introduced a pioneering chair yoga format aimed at professionals. Her approach underscores the necessity of holistic well-being in the workplace. She delineated simple yet impactful health practices, including the "9 to 1 rule", which outlines daily steps, hydration, sleep, meditation, diet, breaks, meals, digestion, and physical activity as key components for maintaining health and enhancing performance at work.

The significance of managing stress and anxiety for maintaining mental health was a major focus. Dr. Nidhi Kumar from Aster DM Healthcare pointed out the importance of seeking psychiatric help when stress becomes overwhelming. She stressed the need to overcome stigma and denial, paralleling mental health care to the treatment of physical ailments like diabetes.

Additionally, Dr. Brijesh Mittal, Deputy Medical Director at Medcare, highlighted the prevention of premature death through a healthy lifestyle. He emphasised balanced eating, regular exercise, and stress control as pivotal in preventing cardiac diseases and promoting longevity, cautioning against over-reliance on technology for health management.

The event also spotlighted personal stories of resilience and self-discovery. Shivani Shah, a six-time world champion in kettlebell sports, chartered accountant, and mother, shared her transformative journey. She spoke about how embracing the "four wheels of life" and finding joy in kettlebell weightlifting propelled her from a life of fear to one of empowerment and fulfillment.

Laughter Yoga with Yogacharya Dhakaram Ji concluded the event on a high note, illustrating the profound benefits of laughter for health, such as enhancing blood circulation, reducing stress, and fostering a positive environment. Dhakaram Ji reminded attendees that the pursuit of happiness is the ultimate goal, achievable through the simple act of laughing.
